Don't be so hard on your Mac :)

I too am noticing some glitchy behavior with the new "Text Browse" window--specifically when I set it to view 3 or more verses.  Please see the attached screenshots.

Another picture of super-glitchy behavior with the new Text Browser window.  This is because the targum text is very long, and so it drags the whole screen down as I scroll down.  Team, this is unworkable.  Please help.

Toma, many thanks for the report.  This bug appears to be unrelated to the bug you are replying to, even though I'll agree it appears similar.  From your screenshot, I take it this was happening on windows?  I only ask because you're posting in the "Bug Swatters - Mac" forum, but my understanding was that you mainly work on a Windows PC.

Fabian, the bug you posted should be fixed in the next release.  As it happens, your text browser's primary version (the dropdown at the bottom) is set to Leonberger, and since Leonberger is NT only, it goes blank when scrolling out of the NT range.  We're changing this so it just stops scrolling when out of range, but if you want to work with OT verses, you'll need to set the text browser's version to something that supports OT.

Toma,

In addition to Silas' note, I was trying to reproduce the text browser behavior you described initially - on my Windows using Accordance 12.3 and could not duplicate the problem.

I must be generating the Text Browser differently than you do.  Could you give me the steps you used to get to this Text Browser? Could you send me your workspace that includes this problematic Text Browser?

Oh yes, whoops.  I am using Windows, and sorry if I caused any confusion, since this is the Mac thread.

Orly, this "scroll glitch" (as I'll call it) is produced regardless of my Workspaces, or personal settings.  I've reproduced it here for you in five different ways--one of which doesn't use any Workspace of mine, or user-imported versions of mine.  Please see these newest 5 screenshots, especially the one titled "Orly."

You asked how I'm generating the Text Browser.  In at least a couple of these screenshots, I'm simply going to "File" -> "New Tab" -> "Text Browser."  I've done this for both "Hebrew Texts" (preset) and "Greek Texts" (preset), and in the latter, I have no user-created texts whatsoever.  Yet, I still get the "scroll glitch" if I select more than 1 verse.

I think you said you were on windows 7, right?  Since we can't reproduce on windows 10, Orly is going to try installing windows 7 to see if it helps us find the bug.

WIndows 7 64-bit.  Yes.  And thank you so much.  Don't want this ruining the party.

  • 4 months later...

Just wanted to mention that this "scroll glitch" is still continuing in the Text Browser pane for my Windows 7.  I know it was being worked on tediously by the wonderful Accordance staff, but never heard back after a point.  (I'd love to be a beta tester, given that I probably occupy a rare niche by still using (only) Windows 7.)

(Oh, and I get a lot of crashes.  Average of once per every 8 hours of usage.)
