Help with the Atlas tool

New to Accordance.  When using the Atlas there appears to be 4 layers in which I can choose something.  The default headings of these layers are: Major biblical sites, geographic names, ancient highways, and [no user layer].

Here is my question/problem.  I often want to know where certain events or occupations occurred relative to modern nations.  Under geographic names I can pick "modern nations" which then shows modern country borders. However, I would also like to layer over these borders various empires, e.g. Persian empire, Roman empire, Babylonian empire, etc.

The problem is these empires seem only available under the "geographic names" layer, which also contains the "modern nations" option. Is there a way I can configure one of the other layers, namely [no user layer] to contain "modern nations"?  That way I can pick empires from the Geographic Names layer and have them overlayed with "modern nations" boundaries.

Thanks much.

Easy Way:  Just hold Shift when picking another layer, and the two will overlap.

Longterm way:  Choose Define Region Sets, and you can make a set that always combines two or more layers.
