Charles Stock
I only got the ESVS a couple of days ago. It is a great tool. I have noticed that the shading that works very well with the other tagged texts, KJVS, NAS95S, NIV-G/K, is incomplete with the ESVS. Likewise the Instant Detail Box. I think I saw this mentioned before, but could not find the post. Is this a problem or a work in progress?
Helen Brown
The parallel Key highlighting on the ESVS should be complete for the GNT-T or other tagged New Testament texts. We are still working on the Old Testament so what we released is very incomplete, but we hope to offer the completed tagging in a matter of months. Charles Stock
I am in Mark 2 and notice that the tagging for the ESVS shows up in the instant details box, but not in the highlighting on the GNT-T. This works both ways. Running the cursor over the GNT-T, the corresponding words will be highlighted in the NIV-G/K, the NAS95S and usually in the KJVS, but the ESVS seems to be lacking more of the highlighting than the other. A simple example is in Mark 2:12. These words in the GNT-T do not "light up" in the ESVS. ἔμπροσθεν εἴδομεν Thanks.
Helen Brown
We'll check it out, but it may not make it to the next update.

For ἔμπροσθεν I'm not sure why it wasn't highlighting, but for εἴδομεν we have corrected the underlying issue. This change will be made for the KJVS, but not for the current release. Those who did the tagging on the KJVS, and edited the KJV Strong's dictionary considered εἴδομεν to be from εἴδω instead of ὁράω. This type of scenario is present in examples where 2nd Aorist (predominantly) principal parts were considered to be separate entries, i.e. εἶπον > λέγω. We've accounted for this in the ESVS, but did not have time to adapt for KJVS.
Charles Stock
Thanks for the explanation. I really appreciate the access to and respons from the Accordance team on these issues. It's great to participate even in a miniscule way in such a great work!

Here is another mysterious tagging situation. 1 Thess 5.12 admonishes to "know" or "respect" those who labor among them. εἰδέναι is tagged as perf act inf of οἶδα. It highlights in NIV-G/K and NAS95S, but not in KJVS or ESVS. In the latter it is tagged to εἴδω. I realize these are related forms, but am curious what lies beneath these differences. It makes the highlighting feature less usable in a casual way if say I wanted to have ESVS and GNT-T open without NIV or NAS.

However, it would probably be best to hold off on making any more suggestions until the update is released. This (along with the previous issue), has been corrected. We went through the entire NT and edited or corrected tagging to account for some underlying differences in the Greek text, also making some other enhancements to improve the Key Number highlighting experience.
