miketisdell
When copying Hebrew text from Microsoft word into the notes field, the text is completely garbled because of the lack of Right to Left support. This is the text in the Word document: This is the same text after copy and past to Notes: Can this please be fixed?https://www.accordancebible.com/forums/topic/24028-better-right-to-left-text-support/ Edited November 13, 2018 by miketisdell

Mark Allison
Most of the Accordance team is at ETS/SBL and won't be as responsive as they usually are. Things should return to normal next week.

Joel Brown
Mixed direction unicode is famously very, very difficult to get right. IMO no program does it 100% right, including MS Word, Mellel, and Accordance. At some point in the past we decided to handle the square bracket characters a bit specially to handle a specific mixed direction unicode issue, but it clearly is messing up your paste. We're looking into this, and we'll try to find a quick fix. The more proper solution of true right-to-left notes will take more time, however.

I believe Microsoft has a standard editor in their library that already handles right to left text that can be integrated into any program. Has Accordance looked into integrating the Microsoft editor? Note: I do hope that Accordance does make this a priority as right to left notes are handled poorly right now. Note: the biggest difficulty with right to left editing displays when right to left and left to right are mixed within the same paragraph. Most other situations are pretty easy to work with in most editors. Edited November 28, 2018 by miketisdell
miketisdell
I just ran across another example of garbled text in a paste from the DSS ”)1ִסאא 21׃2( ולקחום עמים רבים והביאום אל אדמתם ואל מקוממ“(Isaiah 14:2 Dead Sea Scrolls Biblical Corpus (Canonical order)) The selected text from the DSS was copied as a citation and when pasted, this is the results I got.
