Ιακοβ
Is it possible to construct a search to determine if there is ever a case where an adjective with an article (in the second attributive position) is treated as a substantive rather than an attribute of a noun. The motivation for the question is, is it even remotely possible that: Ἦν τὸ φῶς τὸ ἀληθινόν could be translated as "The light was the true one". I want to say it is of course impossible, but I would like to check that there aren't any real world exceptions.
Λύχνις Δαν
If you run something like this against the GNT and then open some English translations in parallel or make use of the Text Browser you'll be able to scan them fairly quickly. There are only 169 verses with such constructions in NA 28 Greek NT text. I would note in passing Mt 23:9 where the adjective's article is widely translated as a relative pronoun.
