mbcvida
I am trying to do a search containing the following: flex search: give up himself <OR> lay down life I can search on either component separately and get results, but when combined with the OR command it finds no instances I am using NASB95 - Accordance 12.3.1 - macOS mojave
Helen Brown
I wonder if it is trying to OR himself with lay and would do better with (give up himself) (lay down life).
mbcvida
No that didn't seem to work either - (lay down life) <OR> (give himself up) gave me hits for (give himself up), but not for (lay down life) - although I can search (lay down life) on its own and get results - can anyone else duplicate this? Helen Brown
The phrase lay down B does not occur. It must be switching to a FLEX search which finds the phrase with a pronoun such as my. However, the FLEX search does not support commands. Similarly, the second phrase in FLEX finds gave himself up even though you searched for give. So this search is what you need: lay down * life g?ve himself up The lesson is that your searches with words and commands must be more specific, FLEX search lets you find similar expressions but you cannot use the commands.
