Smith Posted January 9, 2019 Share Posted January 9, 2019 Since coming to Mac with osx panther, I've never had the desire for MS software (save a brief, regretful, foray with Mac Office I'd rather forget). I'm now in a position where I'll need to use Paratext and it's only available for PC and Linux. I know nothing about Linux and equally nothing about running Windows on a Mac. I'd rather not boot windows, so I can still take full advantage of accordance and my other Mac apps while in paratext. What can I do? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

R. Mansfield Posted January 9, 2019 Share Posted January 9, 2019 I’ve used both Parallels and VMWare Fusion over the years. Both work quite well, and I have no preference of one over the other, though I am currently using Parallels. Both work pretty seamlessly and you can even hide the Windows background and run Windows apps intermixed with your Mac apps as if they were native. Rich Posted January 9, 2019 Share Posted January 9, 2019 Ditto on Rick's post. Both VMWare Fusion and Parallels should easily handle your needs. I've used both, and in contrast with Rick, I'm currently using VMWare's product, but they both pretty much do the same thing. To note, In addition to purchasing VMWare Fusion or Parallels, you will need a Microsoft Windows license / software if you don't have it already. EDIT: In case anyone was seriously considering this, my first attempt did not go well. EDIT: So I got it to the point of running the Paratext installer. I had to leave for work so it's not done. The instructions in the link above don't work anymore. I assume they changed the approach and didn't update the doc. The main problem I have I think is that Mac is nearly 10 years old and VBox uses a bunch of CPU on it during boot of the container.
