Chapter Vocab List for John

Hi all,

 

What is the best way to create chapter by chapter vocab lists for John's Gospel. I don't want words that occur in Chapter 1 in the Chapter 2 list etc. Also I only want words that occur less than 50x.

Hey Steve, sorry I didn't answer your email the other day about this. I was able to run away on a short little break, So, I did

 

It's not straightforward I think, though not specially hard.

 

The basic idea is get the list for John 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc etc using

 

[COUNT 1-49] [RANGE John 1] (65 forms)

 

[COUNT 1-49] [RANGE john 2]  (55 forms)

 

[COUNT 1-49] [RANGE john 3] (50 forms)

 

etc etc

 

I would rename the tab so when I use the [HITS] command in the next step it's clear which list I am using.

 

the analysis of each of these gives you the "non-unique" vocabulary list.

 

Then you take the hits of each list and remove whichever ones are found as a hit in the previous chapter(s)

 

[HITS John 2 liat]@-[HITS John 1 list] [RANGE John 2] (50 forms)

 

An analysis of that result gives you the unique vocabulary; that occurs in John 2

 

You then need a  [COUNT 1-49] [RANGE John 1-2]  tab, 

 

and then do

 

[HITS John 2 liat]@-[HITS John 1-2 list] [RANGE John 3] (35 forms)

 

etc etc

 

There may be a simpler way to do it that I am not familiar with, and the clever peeps on the forums may be able to help.
