dandennison
Is it possible to get modern Amharic Bible? Logos forums seem to suggest the society won’t license for commercial use... If not, is the complete modern Amharic available anywhere as a tagged text at any price? Seems like even getting an Amharic OT as a download is only available for the mobile MyBible app or as a series of HTML pages. Help? Dan
Fabian
+1 One reason more for https://www.accordancebible.com/forums/topic/25384-make-partnership-to-provide-these-bibles/ Greetings Fabian
dandennison
I have got a few questions about this, so to clarify, I am referring to the modern Ethiopian bible in Amharic. There is a New Testament readily available as a SWORD module download, but I want the whole Bible including the OT and ideally including Strongs or GK tagging. The Accordance version is the ancient / liturgical Ethiopian bible. The Coptic is Egyptian as I understand it.
Rick Bennett
We have been working with a team of scholars in Ethiopic studies to produce a complete Ethiopic Bible. The textual history of the Ethiopian canon is very complex, and I am by no means an authoritative source of info on the differences between the extant versions. All that to say, keep an eye out for updates on this project. It will be the first digital edition available. We demoed an early release at SBL in the Ethiopic Bible and Literature section.

dandennison
Rick, will those resources be available in Amharic or only in the older Ethopic/Ge'ez?
Rick Bennett
Rick, will those resources be available in Amharic or only in the older Ethopic/Ge'ez? I just got clarification, and it is not Amharic. When I first commented I remembered hearing Amharic in the discussion of this other project and thought it was related, but it is not. Maybe Accordance is so generous and create both Bibles for free? Or they do it with the instructions of Accordance. Tagged: I guess they would be happy if you or your some other want to tag the Bible. Greetings Fabian
Fabian
I would love if Accordance develop the Bibles from http://bible.geezexperience.com/amharic/about.php. Because of the license to share and because of the verse mapping. I have all Bibles from Accordance but non match perfectly. jsderouchie
Following up on the previous request, would you please consider securing for Accordance at least one MODERN Amharic Bible (NOT the Ethiopic Ge'ez)? Amharic is the national language of Ethiopia, where I minister annually and where I continue to secure the developing countries edition of Accordance for Bible students within the country. Having a version of the Scriptures in their native language would serve them greatly. Possibilities include: (1) Amharic Bible Haile Selassie Version; (2) Iota Amharic Bible; (3) Amharic Bible: New Amharic Standard Version. Thanks you for your consideration. ––JSD
Helen Brown
If you have access to an etext you can always make your own Bible in Accordance. I'm afraid that the number of users who would want this would hardly justify the costs of licensing and development.
dandennison
and if you make your own module, can you please post it on the Accordance Library if you have the rights to do so?

Yes we need definitely Bible Books for the broader range of the Amharic Bible in Accordance. Best would be if Accordance add this Bible. Maybe an English translation of the broader range is available.
