One thing I have always appreciated in BibleWorks is the stats tab. It's perhaps not the most aesthetic, but it allows one to see in a glance how a word or words are used throughout a book or throughout the whole Bible. This is really useful, and I haven't found anything comparable in Accordance that gives both an overall impression and a good degree of visual precision (the graphs are too impressionistic for me, and the the fact that the bar chart breaks up into several columns makes it difficult for visual comparison). How about something like this for Accordance 13? Thanks for your consideration and all that you folks do! I'd be interested to see the layout. That said, I also think export of such data for slicing and dicing in other tools in say CSV format would be good. I believe that gives you the same information I'm seeing here (I can't see what searches you did so I can't really duplicate them). The first image is the stats for πίστις OR πιστεύω in Romans, the second for that same search in the whole NT. The third is for ἐλπίς in NA28+LXX. I've tried your suggestion, but as soon as there is a fairly large number of hits, 1) it breaks them out in several column, which detracts from the clarity of a visual comparison and 2) it isn't possible to decrease the size to make all the data fit in one column. The last image is a good example for me, because it spreads over 37 books and can still be shown in one column. That was actually the reason for my suggestion. The quick and clear visual comparison is helpful, especially in a specific Biblical book, because it can allow you to see in a glance clusters of one word or group of words, and often give a better idea of where the semantic weight is being placed, or not. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It allows importing simply into tools that can do graphing or further analysis. Each value is written followed by a comma. In your case above it would likely have one header row naming the columns and then one row per book or chapter. So perhaps something like: Book,Chapter,count Rom,1,7 Rom,2,0 Rom,3,11 ... Unix Posted February 21, 2019 Share Posted February 21, 2019 I don't need this because the one-column layout would, viewed by my eyes, give too much and unnecessary weight to those chapters which have almost no hits because the short bars still stands out as existing. If developed I wish it would be only made for chapter-level and not book-level at all. The graphs I'm used to seeing are ones for currencies - where the "rock bottom" really isn't one at all, so I have a completely different hat on me whenever using Accordance ANYWAY, so there is ratherv little bias in my opinion here Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thanks, very helpful. I noticed when you use only 2 terms that they combine, but any after that overlaps. Is there a way to change what is overlapping what or to combine all of them? When I am using 5 terms, some of the words where they pop up get buried. When I went to try and click on the color in the "Hits" it seems it deletes it and doesn't overlap it on the top. Because of this, I found a different way which seems to work for my needs: Are there any other ways of doing it? [Edit] You ninja'd me, lol. If you do a Hits Graph for two or more terms, they will all be grouped together and the total number of hits for that search will be graphed. If you do an Analysis Graph, each distinct word or Key number (depending on the criteria you've chosen) will be graphed using a different color. You can adjust the colors and the arrangement of the graphs (e.g.: Overlay or Stacked) by playing with the options in the gear menu. As you discovered, clicking on an item at the bottom removes it from the graph. That way, if your search returns too much noise, you can narrow the graph without redoing the search. Sweet! _________________________________________________________________________________ @Mods, I broke Accordance Lite... I crashed (broke, lol) Accordance doing something IDK if I was supposed to (Don't worry, it's related)... What I did was have multiple tabs open (more than 3, just to clarify). Then I searched for 5 Numbered Key words. I had 3 tabs I was working with. I also had 3 Hits Graphs open for the 3 searches I was doing and they were staked in one window (which I discovered I could do by dragging the Graph above or below another one in the window). The first search was the 5 terms with "<AND>" in between all of them. The second search was the same terms with "<OR>" in between them. For the third, which I think is what crashed it, what I did was do one search with the 5 terms with "<AND>" and then I hit "Keep" in the Hits Graph. Then I entered the 5 terms with "<OR>". All searches had the same conditions. They all had a "Scope" of "Chapter." They also had a "Range" of the book of "Proverbs" for the only book. It worked for a bit after that, but something got messed up. I think I hit a bug or something because what happened was that I was able to see in the window with the Graphs that the first 2 were just red because I was technically using one term. But the 3rd had a red which was overlayed with an orange graph and as far as I am aware, that is not supposed to happen. So could the problem have been that I just had too much going on with Accordance originally? Note: I got a pop-up window on the last search saying if I changed the text or the Range that the points wouldn't be the same. I didn't get that message last time.
