In his Accordance 25 story, David Lang, our VP of Development, tells about the first time he ever laid eyes on Accordance--two years before it was even released!

The depth of search features goes back that far. I had no idea.

New music I am interested in:

https://youtu.be/Y-ZiJmDOk2c - Matisyahu, Produces Reggae and Pop music as a practicing Jew. His song "One Day" talks about peace between the world at large

https://youtu.be/44S6vBveKZQ - Demon Hunter, Traditional Christian Metal/Rock band who just came out with 2 very successful albums, separately, titled 'War' & 'Peace'

https://youtu.be/R7REkjcwM_8- POD (Payable On Death), Positive Nu-Metal/Rock/Reggae band that gained popularity when they came out with "Alive" and "Youth of the Nation" off the album 'Satellite' which released 9/11/2001

https://youtu.be/Bz-g2tucn24- Project 86, Post-Hardcore Christian band. Andrew Schwab, the front man of the band runs a podcast (which I support through Patreon) dedicated to helping other creatives find their voice.

As I see John 6:29:

Joshua replied to all of them, "In me is the Work of God, in order that you [all] trust that I will send you."

Jesus started His ministry as a commandment of God through His mother, whom he obeyed, to urged Him to begin His ministry. What transpires from that is Him as the greatest light of the world that ever was and ever will be. As a representation of this, he did a miracle and from six pots of water He made into wine that represents humanity at large. He made the wine into the best tasting wine as a representation of what He does for those of us who believe He was God and did the Work of God so that He might send out His Spirit upon the whole world.

I was surprised to learn this myself. I began using Accordance in 1998 but would not have guessed that such a sophisticated search feature would have been there from the very beginning.

He mentions MacBible but I was sure mac Bible from ver early on was merged with Accordance. I remember contacting Accordance to get the NJB and NAB Bibles and thought I was using them in conjunction with MacBible, although I know that early on version 2 or 3 I was using accordance. My memory may be way off I dod know Zondervan's Mac offerings eventually were all Accordance based for the longest time (I believe starting at Accordance 3, but then again memories may be failing me, 45 so starting to fall apart...lol)...

David can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe MacBible was Zondervan’s name for “The Perfect Word” that Roy Brown created before Accordance. Zondervan bought it from Roy and then renamed it. Thus, there is obvious “spiritual” (using the term generically) continuity between the two.

And likely the module formatting was compatible.... it seemed to me Helen thought it strange that one would just want Bible texts but I was humoured and got them little did she know that they were a gateway drug dragging me into the Accordance universe. LOL

Yeah, the thing that makes this absolutely "nutz" is that the internet wasn't even in the public sector yet. Talk about being ahead of the game!

[Edit] Public sector. I miswrote.

Daniel, I planned on exploring the MacBible-Accordance connection in a follow-up blog post. :)  Rick is right that Zondervan bought The Perfect Word, which Roy had developed in the late eighties. Zondervan wanted to avoid any trademark issues with WordPerfect, so they renamed it MacBible. This was actually kind of funny since The Macintosh Bible was a popular Macintosh computer book by Peachpit Press.

At the time, I had no idea that MacBible and Accordance were "related." I had just seen MacBible in stores and was getting impatient for Accordance's release. Needless to say, I'm glad I waited!

Eventually, Zondervan dropped MacBible and turned to Accordance to power their Macintosh CD-ROM products.
