Hebrew Audio Bible - Adjust play rate

Recommended Posts

I am enjoying listening to the Hebrew Scriptures. But, it would be very nice to slow the rate and which it plays. I try to read it and consider how it sounds. Then, I play a verse or sometimes a chapter. But, it goes so fast for my ears that I frequently have to stop and scroll back multiple times to get what I want.

The only thing I see in preferences for speed is for text to speech, so it doesn’t have any effect on audio Bibles. Unless I’m missing something.

Hello coffeedave

Here are three things you might be interested in:

The YouVersion Bible App from the iOS store for the iPhone has playback speed.

This is for the Audio Bible in the app. Its free.

Listen to Audio Bibles enjoy skip, playback speed and timer controls.

Choose from popular versions like the NIV, NASB, ESV, NKJV, NLT, KJV and more...

Audio Bibles available for select versions and are not downloadable.

You could also connect a 3.5mm mini plug from the iPhone to the Aux In to a car stereo or go bluetooth.

If you have computer speakers like the M-Audio AV 40s connect to Aux there too to listen

You may have to check more carefully here for the Hebrew and Greek.

I did not see those there. Interesting i will have to recheck those.

I would be interested in that too. +1

Wordproject.org has Hebrew and Greek audio.

Not too fast.

No playback speed or timer.

Only play/pause/forward

Biblegateway.com has playback speed and timer.

Enclosed is the Bible Audio App Tutorial for adjustments

Tap the '1x' to choose the speed at which the audio plays. You have six options to choose from.

Faith comes by Hearing!!!

Thank you for downloading the Bible Audio app from Bible Gateway! This tutorial will walk you through how to use the Bible Audio app on your device.

1. Click the verse abbreviation in the upper left corner to pull up the 'Go to Passage' menu. Choose your Bible book and chapter and tap 'Go' in the upper right corner. You can also tap Plans under 'Go to Passage' on this page to choose a reading plan. If you choose a reading plan, then tap 'Go' in the upper right corner.

2. Choose your translation and reader by tapping in the upper right corner. Tap the translation you want to listen to.

3. The Bible text will appear in the largest part of the screen, one verse at a time. The verses will move automatically as the audio plays.

4. Tap the '1x' to choose the speed at which the audio plays. You have six options to choose from.

5. Tapping this icon will show you the copyright information for the translation.

6. Tapping 'No Repeat' will allow you to choose whether to repeat the chapter, the verse, or to have no repeat.

7. This is the Play/Pause button. Tap it to play the audio and tap it to pause the audio.

8. The Timer allows you to set an amount of time that the audio plays for. You have seven options, including 'None' if you want to manually pause the audio. If you choose a time amount, the app will automatically pause the audio after the time is up.

Hello Again

FYI Some extra stuff

For Hebrew:

I did some more research with the YouVersion App about Hebrew and Greek Languages.

They have 5 Hebrew Versions: HD, HRNT, WLC Center Version plus 2 more.

To find these you have to type Hebrew in the search field then you will see them.

To use them you may have to sign in and then download.

This is only for the iPhone.

For Greek:

I found 5 Ancient Greek Versions.

They are BYZ04, SBLG, THGNT, TR1624 and TR1894.

In addition I saw Modern and Koine Greek.

They even have 14 French versions

The slowest playback speed they have is .75x up to 1.75x

The timer is set at 5 minutes to 2 Hours

Also the ability to restart from the start of the audio file without having to drag the progress bar back to the left.

Thank you,
