NICNT18 upgrade to NICNT19 is $149.00

This upgrade " adds new updated volumes on Romans, Galatians, Colossians, and Philemon".

 

If I buy these books separately, the sale prices are: $63.90, $43.90, $43.90, and $19.90 (total of $171.60)

 

If I use the discount code NIC-50-19 with the List Prices, I get: $40.00, $27.50, $27.50, and $12.50 (total of $107.50).

 

What is the advantage of paying the $41.50 extra to upgrade the whole set rather than saving that amount and just buying the 4 new volumes separately with the NIC-50-19 code?

 

Is it also cheaper to buy individual items than to bulk upgrade the NICOT?

Chuck you are correct. I calculated the NICOT upgrade and it is $32 more with the set rather than purchasing individually. 

 

I own both the NICNT18 and the NICOT25 and hoped there would be a little price break for upgrading both as a combination, but rather upgrading the packages versus the individual volumes it would cost me an additional $73.50. That doesn't seem to make sense to be either. 

 

I don't blame Accordance, however, as my guess is that it relates to complicated licensing rules imposed by the publishers.

The advantages of staying current with the set are that you have all the newer volumes in one set, and this is what will be updated with the corrections that you all are so good about sending in (and Julie and Mark are so good about implementing).

The individual volumes will not be updated with corrections? That definitely makes a difference in price.

Helen likely means that it saves Your time to download sets versus downloading many individual volumes. As well as that it also saves OakTree staff's time to work with sets vs individual volumes. But I don't think it means individual volumes never or very rarely receive corrections. I've seen corrections to individual volumes (had a few volumes before I got the OT and NT sets).

Lets say You want every correction at once. That You may receive, but then You have to both spot and mark for download each one, on top of checking often. With sets You only need to mark the sets. OakTree's staff also has less work doing all things if they work against set modules only, which is part of the reason why some products only comes as sets. (I would also actually think sets sell better; I know I, for one, usually prefer them.)
If You only have individual volumes from every set, it actually, with a library consisting of many hundreds of volumes (I have 1,946 2,189 volumes - just counted (was about to forget BAR - therefore the count change) takes a few minutes to check the boxes one by one each time. Which is necessary. You don't need to download each correction for each module each time. Or if You do want to then all the more reason to buy sets only:

Correction: Individual volumes are updated as well as the current set. What I meant was that the older sets are not updated with any subsequent corrections.

As per the sale advert you can use the coupon on the upgrade set prices as well as the individual volumes, so it does work out cheaper to buy the set upgrades rather than the individual volumes - $16.25 cheaper in fact...
