TYA
I always use the Instant Details window--100% of the time--but I only use it as a pop up display. That being said, I want to emphasize that I always have the Instant Details option enabled, 100% of the time. But for several months now, once every few days the Instant Details will suddenly "disappear" (i.e. fail to pop up when I'm hovering over something). Curious as to why this is, I go up to the "Windows" menu at the top, and the "Instant Details" option is mysteriously disabled. Not a big deal, but I thought I would report it, in case it ends up being a bug that can be fixed. Thanks. Edited March 26, 2019 by TYA
Silas Marrs
I haven't been able to reproduce this so far. If you can find a reproducible case, that would be a great help in locating the code that's causing the bug. I'm assuming this only happens if the Instant Details preference "Automatically fade when floating" is on?
Fabian
Silas what TYA means is an option in the preferences to always have the ability to have the pop-up on. As it is in BW. So the opposite of fading away. But it has to be also updated. Same as you detach the Instant Details, but it follows the cursor. If I understand this post and his other posts correct. This is currently not possible. So not a bug but a feature request. Greetings Fabian
TYA
what TYA means... I am reporting a bug here--not a feature request. I'm assuming this only happens if the Instant Details preference "Automatically fade when floating" is on? Correct, since I only use the Instant Details window this way--100% of the time. See attached screenshot. Where you see "Instant Details" checked, this is where I'm saying it occasionally becomes unchecked / disabled all by itself, without me doing it. (The screenshot also shows what I have selected in Preferences, to answer your question about "Automatically fade when floating.") And Silas, this particular issue of the Instant Details becoming totally disabled on its own is separate from a similar issue I previously reported (but without any fix yet) in which the pop up window appears to be disengaged, but is instead popping up behind other Accordance windows (i.e. when I have multiple windows open). This latter issue also happens with the Hebrew audio dialogue box (used to play Israel Bible Society Hebrew files), which sometimes gets "stuck." In both cases (Instant Details and Hebrew audio), I have to momentarily jump out of the program, or bring another Windows app up on the screen--then go back to Accordance, and the problem is then fixed for the moment. If you combine all these issues (and even just the two regarding the Instant Details), it is quite "buggy" for me. Along with the other issues (Hebrew audio box), scroll glitch in the Text Browser, and a total crash of the program once per day, I'm dealing with quite a few serious bugs on a daily basis. Silas Marrs
These crashes you are getting- do you get crash logs when they occur?
TYA
I haven't been. Where do I find / get a crash log?
Silas Marrs
Most OS's have an option to view the crash dump in the error dialog when a program crashes. Some googling leads me to believe they may be saved in this folder on Windows 7: C:\Users\~you~\AppData\Local\CrashDumps If you can provide the crash dumps, it can be a great help to us for figuring out how to fix it. TYA
Of course. Gladly, and thank you, Silas. Edited March 28, 2019 by TYA
