Hi REB is out of synch with other versions. If I am viewing a verse in the NIV and switch to REB, it shows an entirely different verse.  Every other version i use works.    I did delete and reinstall REB, so I think the problem is at your end.

Do you talk about the verse reference or the content in the verse?

Also you should be aware that the REB has very different versification, at times swapping  around positions or large chucks of the Bible for what seems to make a more logical flow they consider original. While I cannot know  if that is the case with what you have come across it may be it. The lack of translation notes makes these transpositions more mysterious.

On the Cambridge website are Footnotes listet to this Bible. It doesn’t surprise me that the Footnotes are missing the in Accordance.

Well when logos and olivetree did the REB (almost identical time frame) they included the translation notes. So I am sure Accordance could add them in and recompile it but there is no indication that they are considering that action...

We will look into getting new files from the publisher that include the footnotes. And we will also look at the verse syncing to verify that it is functioning correctly.

This Bible was likely licensed to us in the early 2000's, and during that time it was very common for the electronic files provided to us to be lacking certain elements such as footnotes, or even poetic formatting. Over the years as this has been pointed out to us, we have always tracked down new files, redeveloped, and posted free updates. If something is "surprising" it should be that in the last 10 years this is the first time that I recall this being reported or noticed, which may indicate its lack of use. Regardless, we will make a note to contact the publisher and acquire new files.

The notes to the New Jerusalem Bible would also be most welcome

NJB notes would have me over the moon but not sure that would ever happen.

This is the full text:

1 At many moments in the past and by many means, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets; 2 but in our time, the final days, a he has spoken to us in the person of his Son, b whom he appointed heir of all things c and through whom he made the ages. d 3 He is the reflection of God’s glory and bears the impress of God’s own being, e sustaining all things by his powerful command; and now that he has purged sins away, he has taken his seat at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high. 4 So he is now as far above the angels as the title which he has inherited is higher than their own name.

  a. In the fullness of time, Mk 1:15Ga 4:4c, the last times or the last days begin, Ac 2:171 P 1:20
  b. After the prophets, God sends an envoy who is no longer a mere messenger like the others; he is ‘Son’, cf. Mk 12:2-6Rm 1:4c, he is even the Word, Jn 1:1a14m
  c. To be a son implies having the right to inherit, cf. Mt 21:38Ga 4:7. Here, however, God is credited with the handing over of the whole creation because the inheritance in question is messianic and eschatological.
  d. Hebraism for the whole of creation.
  e. These two metaphors are borrowed from the sophia and logos theologies of Alexandria, Ws 7:25-26; they express both the identity of nature between Father and Son, and the distinction of persons. The Son is the brightness, the light shining from its source, which is the bright glory, see Ex 24:16f, of the Father (‘Light from Light’). He is also the replica, see Col 1:15d, of the Father’s substance, like an exact impression made by a seal on clay or wax, cf. Jn 14:9.

The New Jerusalem Bible (New York: Doubleday, 1985), Heb 1:1–4.

This is what the readers version  provides:

1  At many moments in the past and by many means, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets; but 2 in our time, the final days, he has spoken to us in the person of his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things and through whom he made the ages. 3 He is the reflection of God’s glory and bears the impress of God’s own being, *  sustaining all things by his powerful command; and now that he has purged sins away, he has taken his seat at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high. 4 So he is now as far above the angels as the title which he has inherited is higher than their own name.

* cf. Ws 7:25–26.

The New Jerusalem Bible: Readers Edition (New York: Doubleday, 1990), Heb 1:1–4.

Not saying they are necessary but it is while like having a song with no music, somewhat lacking. And other than a likely never developed version for logo which is up on a trial balloon in their PP system as an offering to North Americans only, but with little indication that it will ever get enough support it is to the best of my knowledge not available in any software.
