Syncing my iOS library with my mac library...

I'm not sure if this is a bug or I'm just not doing it right... my apologies if it's the latter.

I just watched the video and was excited to see that I could have my iOS library match my laptop library.

From what I understand, I was supposed to do a wifi sync which would then sync the two libraries and all the custom folders I have on my mac would be transferred over.

However, I've realized is that I don't want all 203 modules in my tools folder on my iPad (they simply won't fit)... so how do I sync my folders and the order of the contents without having to download everything?

Again, my apologies if I missed something.

Thanks for all the work you guys did... the update is great!

As long as you add one new module per folder, you should get the folder structure, but honestly, I started over with a new installation. I am not sure if the existing modules will get placed in the folders which the method I suggested.

Thanks Helen. I started syncing before but it quick a third of the way through. When I tried it now I got the message below:

When upgrading to 3, performing a Wi-Fi synch puts in a base installation, and one has to reinstall desired modules by the new categories. I love the organization, but I am not sure why the synch does not install the selected modules the first time.

I had to do the same thing with the beta.

The work will be worth it, but I thought the release version would not have the pain of the beta.

Helen, I clicked on some of the modules and it did import all of the my folders I had created. However, it didn't copy over the internal order or dividers, only nested folders.

Also, it copies the folders but most of books were placed in the tool column so i had to go back and put them back in the folders.

Thanks Michael for confirming that the sync doesn't install the modules the first time...

Update: I was just updating each folder separately. The update finished, the Accordance app on my iPad froze on the start up screen, I restarted my iPad and I lost everything... it's back to Accordance lite with non of my files.

Any ideas how to get it back? I had been downloading/syncing for the past two hours...

David, I'm sorry to hear this! I've been looking into your report and will get back to you when I have a suitable answer.

Thanks Graham... the strange thing is that although all the files and formatting are gone, when I checked the app under 'iPad storage' it says that it's 4.6GB? Does that mean all those modules I downloaded are still there?

Thanks again for looking into this!

I have a similar issue to David's.

I have everything that is on the Mac on my iPhone. When I tried to sync it decided to sync everything. That would be OK except:

When I initially did the sync I got a problem with the NIV-GK which caused the sync to crash.

Did a sync again without the NIV-GK and the sync again failed but more just because I was syncing so much so decided to sync a section at a time.

First sync'd the texts which worked except the for the texts not being the the folders

Sync'd dictionaries which seemed to work OK

Then sync'd commentaries again which seemed to work OK

When I sync'd Greek and Hebrew resources it actually sync'd some of the already sync'd resources first (Hebrew Audio seemed to be a particular problem - resync'd every time I did a sync but randomly other resources would as well).

Continued like this for other sections of my library. It continued to re-sync resources already there then eventually on one of the sync's it finished but Accordance Mobile crashed. When I restarted Accordance Mobile I got the message "This Accordance installation has been restored from a backup. Your User Notes and Preference have already been restored, but you will need to use Easy Install or Sync to download the rest of your content". In fact my preferences were lost as well - it was like a 'factory reset'

Tried this again and got the same problem (although tried syncing folders in a different order).

Then thought I would get a number of folders synced but do the rest with easy install because I would at least have the folder structure in place. The initial sync did not put the items in the folders and when I moved them at a certain point it lost a lot of the resources although it still looked as though it had them in the library but the items in the list had lost their picture icons and when you selected them did not actually show the resource.

Just as an update. I decided that reinstalling Accordance from scratch my solve the problem. So did this. However I still get the same issues.

I first sync'd the texts (without the NIV-GK). But it did not put the texts into the folders.

I then sync'd my dictionaries folder. This worked and also moved the texts into the correct folders.

I then sync'd commentaries which seemed to work but when restarting Accordance Mobile it had restored installation from backup so was reset.

For the time being I have sync'd a small subset of resources. Under the 'Tools' folder some of the resources have not been put into folders and I also have some duplicated folders. See image where 'Practical' is duplicated. 'Biblical Studies' and 'Translator Notes' are also duplicated further down.
