Perseus Classic Improvements

Fabian

Recommended Posts

Hello

I've purchased the Perseus Classic tool.

I would love to have some improvements, because the information are very limited.

I can't search for the Authors in the Library as I can for others.

The info module don't have any infos about this tool.

The Notes modules don't have any explanations of the abbreviation.

The Library in the Notes modules gives in compound with the

  • Aristotle: Metaphysics, Politics, Nicomachean Ethics. (Greek and English)
  • Herodotus: The Histories (Greek and English)
  • Homer: The Iliad, The Odyssey (Greek and English)
  • Pausanias: Description of Greece (Greek and English)
  • Plato: Apology of Socrates, Republic (Greek and English)
  • Strabo: Geography (Greek and English)
  • Thucydides: The Peloponnesian War (Greek and English)
  • Xenophon: Anabasis (Greek and English)

from the Store some wink.

I gave now 2 Stars for the work. The tool is also only selected works, will there come more?

Greetings

Fabian

List All Book Names in the Display menu does provide a somewhat more expanded name for each book, and of course you can set the text to display the expanded names.

Helen, thanks I know this but this is not enough. Not only for me but also for others. https://www.accordancebible.com/forums/topic/26271-more-module-information-please/?p=129564

My points here are not addressed.

I can't search for the Authors in the Accordance Library as I can for others. "Aristotle" like Luke post-32723-0-65824400-1559455520_thumb.png or "Politics" didn't throw out any results.

The info module don't have any infos about this tool.

The Notes modules for this tool don't have any explanations of the abbreviation in the beginning or at the end.

Lastly it came an update which raises the minimum to 12.3.2 but unfortunately my hope for more module infos have not come true.

Greetings

Fabian

This tool has many authors. It would be good if this is pictured in the search criteria.  post-32723-0-70301400-1559460663_thumb.png

Despite Fabian's two-star review, I decided to buy it: I wanted to encourage the effort and I hope that in the future other tools will link into this module (e.g., citations of Strabo in NT commentaries and background).

Contrary to Fabian's report, when I search for authors in the library, I find them:

Perhaps the difference is that I have 1.1. The strange thing is that the authors only show up as authors in the notes modules, while in the text modules, they are tags. So there's still room for improvement.

After a clear in the caches by holding the option-key by the App start, I have Aristotle too in the Library. It seems this is caused to the minimum of 12.3.2.

Thanks jlm for your post with an image.

So actual a 3 star;-)

I only work on a PC laptop (unlike your Android's and i-Phone's), and my Library doesn't find "Aristotle," "Homer," or  others--even after I just upgraded moments ago from Perseus 1.0 to 1.1.  (Maybe I have to completely close Accordance and restart?  But I have numerous windows open now, and don't want to do that.)

I'm grateful that Accordance offered a good sale price for Perseus, but may I gently suggest that a little more work needs to be done up front with basic information on these modules.  No information in the library--neither about what is in the module, nor can I search for individual authors.  And "Display all Book Names" doesn't even give the full book names.  No good.

Thank you.

If you have version 1.1, restart Accordance holding down the option key and select "Clear Library Cache".

On Win the "alt" key. See Video after 2:42.

Thanks Fabian and Mark.  That worked, so that I can search "Aristotle" in the Library.

Many thanks.

Please add an intro and a TOC with the explanations of the abbreviations to the Notes modules.

Please add some information to the "Accordance module Info" for the next release.

Thanks

Greetings
