TYA
Blessings all, This screenshot gets a bit complicated, but I'm trying to show that when I'm trying to open an additional instance of one of my primary Workspaces, Accordance is simply updating a currently-open instance of that Workspace. This has never been an issue for me, since I always make sure to turn the Recycle button off. But in this case, with all Recycle buttons turned off, I'm not getting a whole new instance of the Workspace being opened, which is what I want. Note: for all the effort I put into making this screenshot, I figure I'll take the opportunity to request that Accordance make an option in the Preferences to default the Recycle button to "On" or "Off" whenever a new window is opened. I know some might laugh at this, but I personally never use the Recycle button. I want a separate window open for everything I open (for various reasons). Therefore, because Accordance doesn't make this an option yet, I have to turn off the Recycle button for every single window I open. Rough estimate: 7-15 times per long study session. Thank you! Friends, all this still holds true. Since I *never* use the Recycle button, I've probably had to manually turn off the Recycle button 1,000 times (no real exaggeration) in the last 2 years. Every time I open a Text Browser, Research Tab, or other window (which I do numerous times per day), the first thing I do is turn the Recycle button off. If you would please simply make a Preference setting to turn the Recycle button off, that would really save me some time. Thank you so much. Bear with me: another annoyance with not having the option to completely disable the Recycle button as a preference: Again, I usually have, say, 10 different Accordance windows opened at the same time, all fully maximized, and all with the Recycle buttons manually turned off. However, sometimes I may miss one of the Recycle buttons, or it mysteriously gets turned back on--speaking here of a Recycle button in a Text Browser. Now, I click on a verse reference in a commentary somewhere, and instead of opening a new Text Browser window (which is what I want), it changes the verse showing in the Text Browser of another window. Thus I lose my place in that other window. How do I get it back? There is no "back" or "forward" navigation button. Am I just robbed without any way to get back there? jlm
I do use the recycle button, but I turn it off most of the time, so if there was an option to not recycle new tabs by default, I would select it. However, with the keyboard shortcut, it doesn’t take me much time or effort to turn it off.
TYA
However, with the keyboard shortcut, it doesn’t take me much time or effort to turn it off. True, except, as I said above, when you have to do it 10 times because you opened 10 separate windows, which isn't uncommon for me. And then again, if I happened to miss the Recycle button in just one of those windows, and I click on a verse reference somewhere else, I then lose my place in the Text Browser in that other window. No good. Edited February 5, 2021 by TYA
Iconoclaste
If there were a “Move to prior...” or “...following location” button in the Text Browser Tab, next to the Go To Box, this might not be a problem. That could be a feature request! In a Tool or Text Tab, you could just use the search history to move back to the prior search. But the main feature request that I hear here is one to “Disable automatic recycling”. That would look so good in the “Amplify” category of the preferences. It would almost be as good as “Disable Quick Entry” which is a preference I am thankful for when searching in Greek or in Hebrew.
