Support for Yiddish Bible

Hello

That the Yiddish Bible  came as Hebrew from right to left and not as unicode. It would be fine if Accordance support

א אַ אָ ב בֿ ג ד ה ו וּ װ ױ ז זש ח ט י יִ ײ ײַ כ ך כּ ל ̯ל מ ם נ ן ס ע ̯ע פ פּ פֿ ף צ ץ ק ר ש שׂ תּ ת ׳ ״ ־  ִ ַ ָ ֿ

There are some special Yiddish characters.

ײַ  ױ   װ  זש For example, but some more.

You can see it here: https://yi.wikisource.org/w/index.php?title=טייטש_יהואש_ויקרא&action=edit&redlink=1on the bottom.

Thanks

Greetings

What Yiddish Bible are you referring to?  Or where are you getting a Yiddish Bible from?

Hello TYA

From https://opensiddur.orgthey have A Yiddish Tanakh https://opensiddur.org/readings-and-sourcetexts/mekorot/translations/yehoyeshs-yiddish-translation-of-the-tanakh/ There is a download, but I struggle now with two different kinds.

1. Accordance currently doesn't support all Yiddish characters. The reason for this post.

2. The text has {dn  } in it and I don't know how to handle this. I have wrote to them. Maybe this is better https://yi.wikisource.org/wiki/טייטש_יהואש_בראשית

and others like https://he.wikisource.org/wiki/מפתח:Seder_Tefilot_K%27Minhag_K.K._Sefaradim_(Yosef_Nachmuli,_Korfu_1885).pdf https://el.wikisource.org/wiki/Βιβλίο:Seder_Tefilot_K%27Minhag_K.K._Sefaradim_(Yosef_Nachmuli,_Korfu_1885).pdf,but this is currently not so interresting for me.

A project to bring the HB Psalms to the Ladino language https://opensiddur.org/readings-and-sourcetexts/mekorot/tanakh/ketuvim/emet/tehilim/psalms-004-by-david-in-ladino-1852/

https://opensiddur.org/readings-and-sourcetexts/festival-and-fast-day-readings/hanukkah-readings/megillat-antiochus-translated-in-german-by-chajm-guski/Megillat Hebrew-English-German

An iPhone/iPad app, but I don't see it in may country. Or it is not 64bit.

JET a new Bible https://opensiddur.org/readings-and-sourcetexts/mekorot/translations/jewish-english-torah/

Are the Yiddish "special" characters you mentioned a single unicode rather than two separate unicodes like they would be in Hebrew?

Hello

I know Accordance does not make their font for themselves. It's another company. It wouldn't be so hard to order updates to the fonts for Accordance 14.

The Yiddish characters for Yehudit.

The "/" slash etc. for Helena.

And possible missing characters for the other fonts.

AFAIK the Arabic Quran came as unicode as the Salaam font don't had all characters. But this is not good for intertextuality searches.

This is only not necessary if all is on unicode in Accordance 14.

Thanks for doing so.

I hope for 14 and a wider Helena and Yehudit font wich includes the slash / for all fonts, all Yiddish characters, all Arabic characters (why the Quran-T is in unicode as the Arabic Bible is on Salaam).

Or going fully unicode with Accordance. Eihter way, but as it is now it is not satisfying.
