NICNT duplicates?

Excuse my ignorance: Why do I have multiple versions of the same work(s) available for download for Accordance?

I understand why there's multiple versions of Fee's commentary of 1 Corinthians (original v. revised), but...

1. why does Leon Morris's commentary show up in the 18 vol. download and as a download by itself?

2. The same thing with James—why do I have two versions of Adamson's commentary?

3. The same also occurs with Pieter A. Verhoef as as separate download. Why?

Also, if I make highlights in one, I presume that it doesn't transfer to the other (duplicate). So how can I ensure that all my highlights are in one place? I could always just not download those additional modules, of course.

Thanks in advance for the explanation.

If you had NICNT (19 vols.)

The New International Commentary on the New Testament (NICNT-19)

Used by permission of William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company.

(See copyright information on each volume.)

Accordance edition hypertexted and formatted by OakTree Software, Inc.

Version 1.0

You would see

The Letter of James  Scot McKnight

and also

The Gospel of John  J. Ramsey Michaels

current version in the NICOT is The Books of HAGGAI AND MALACHI  MIGNON R. JACOBS

I am guessing all owning the older books automatically got the Individual volumes added to their account and you installed them..

Separate volumes should only be available for download when you own at least two versions of a commentary set. If the volume was included in the earlier set but removed from the newer set, then you will have the option of downloading that volume on its own. You can transfer the highlights from the old to the new set, but I am not sure that you can transfer the highlights to the individual volume. The intention is that you delete the old set and just keep the new one and the single volumes, which will then not be duplicated.

The reasons that volumes get removed are various, either they have been replaced by a newer volume or the publisher has asked us to withdraw them due to a suspicion of plagiarism.

Thanks for the full reply, Helen! So how do I know which edition of the volumes I should keep and which ones I should delete? That is, how do I know which one is the old set and which one is the new set?

Is the reason the "old set" is still available to me because I haven't deleted it from my computer? (Since Accordance can't suck the volume off your hard drive.)

The process seems rather overly complex, I admit. Surely there's a better way to implement this...?

1) NICNT-18 is the set you currently own. The latest version we offer is the NICNT-19, in which the Leon Morris volume has been replaced by a volume from J. Ramsey Michaels. If you upgrade to NICNT-19, you will still have the older volume by Morris available to you (although right now it’s redundant, since you still have it in NICNT-18).

2) The same thing is happening here as in #1. The Adamson commentary has been replaced by a volume from Scot McKnight.

3) Again, the same thing is happening as in #1. The Verhoef commentary has been replaced by a volume from Mignon R. Jacobs.

In your case, you can delete all those separate volumes from your library. But if you ever upgrade to NICNT-19 ($149), you’ll want to re-download those volumes.
