Printing text and user notes side-by-side

Is there a way to print Bible text and the corresponding user notes in a two column format so that the notes are aligned with the text?

I would like to do this to have notes easily accessible when teaching a Bible class.

Yes, if you display the Notes in a parallel pane to the text, and choose to Print All Panes in Print Settings. There are many options in that dialog.

I have tried and tried and am having no luck.

I went into print settings and under multi-pane printing have tried all three options, but cannot get my user notes.

I did the following:

1) Open ESVS to 1 Thess 1

2) Click Add Parallel and selected my notes file.  I have notes for two of the verses.   What I would like to do is print with the notes for each of those two verses in the right column, spaced vertically to match the verse.

3) I highlight all of Chapter 1 and select print selection.

The result is that the text is printed in the left-hand column.  There is space on the right, like it intended to print something but my notes are not in there.  I thought maybe it was because is used "Print Selected" and my selection was only in the text so nothing was selected from my notes.  So I held down the shift key and tried highlighting some notes, but then it printed the notes only in the left-hand column.

It's definitely working for me, but you cannot choose Print Selection. Set a range or limit the number of verses displayed so you don't print the entire text, and simply select Print. For example, enter 1Thess 1 in the entry box rather than using the GoTo.

Thanks.  That is definitely an improvement now.  I guess since you can only select in one pane at a time, "Print Selection" is only printing from the one pane.  The standard "Print function is printing both panes, although it is not aligning the user notes comments with the verses (sometimes they are appearing on different pages even).  I guess I can see how that would be difficult since it might require adding space in the text to accommodate longer notes.  It looks like I will have to paste the text out to a Word processor to accomplish what I am wanting to do.

Have you tried the Print Options -> Columns -> "None (All Interleaved)"?  I think this will accomplish what you are looking for.

  • 1 year later...

I know this is an older post but would like to do the same on Macbook.  I don't see any column options. My notes print below the verse but I'd like a two column view.  Is this possible on Macbookwith v13.1.5?
