Report correction no longer initiates an email

Hi ya,

  Acc 12.3.6

  Win 10

I use gmail via a browser and normally highlighting text and reporting correction opens a new tab for gmail and the compose popup shows with a properly populated correction request. Something has changed recently and while the new tab is opened the compose popup never shows. Is this an Accordance issue or did I break something on my end somehow ? I don't recall changing anything that would relate to this.

  Anyone seen this ?

Thx

D

Honestly, this sounds like a little hacky thing that chrome has done with your system.  All we do is tell the system to compose an e-mail, so it might be a Chrome update (they update aaalllll the time) that changed it.  You could try older versions of Accordance, but my bet is Chrome or Gmail broke it.

Ok so this turns out to have been a chrome/gmail interaction I think.

The chrome piece was still working as it should have. That is, it would receive what Accordance sent it and open a new tab, but gmail was just opening another default inbox.

This part is enabled by let mail.google.com install a handler. This then appears in chrome://settings/handlers as mail.google.com. If you don't see this then turn off and then on the checkbox "Allow sites to ask to become default handlers for protocols (recommended)". Then go and reload your gmail inbox page using the browser reload button. It will then ask to install the handler.

With that done then, if it is not working the likely next thing is that the popup that gmail now uses is blocked. Chrome blocks such things and allows you to whitelist sites that are allowed to do this.

Go to chrome:// settings/content/popups. If mail.google.com is not in the Allow list click the Allow list Add button and add it.

Then things should work again.

For reference, this is on Chrome Version 76.0.3809.132

Thx

D
