Daniel in the middle of Ezra

Is there something I am missing? I am seeing Daniel 3:31 in between Ezra 6:14 and 6:15 in all of the LXX versions I checked (Greek and English) i.e. Greek Bible, Rahlfs, Swete, NETS, SAAS.

I've checked Rahlfs, Swete, NETS and Brenton on Mac and I do not see this. I'll check Windows in a bit.

But do you by any chance have a search in the tab ? In fact, what tab is this happening in. Your screenshot isn't showing a lot of context I'm afraid.

I don't see it on Windows either.

Thx

D

I'm using Windows 7, and I don't have Daniel inserted between Ezra 6:14 or Ezra 6:15 in any of these same versions either (see attached screenshots).

These are sometimes program issues. Mostly if you have a Bible in parallel and the chapters has not the same amount of verses.

Or the verse mapping of the Bible isn't absolut the same as the mapping they used. I found this in User Bibles if the Imported Bible has more verses in the book then the source mapping.

Accordance tries then to fill up the parallel Bible.

I can't say for 100% what the issue is, but I have experienced this a few times of different amount of verse numbers.

For your case I guess I saw such error report for this Bible more than once. So maybe Accordance has to check their verse mapping of the LXX LXX/GNT.

Greetings

Correct, and this a very time-consuming factor when importing User Bibles.  To avoid this problem, you will need (at present, as of v. 12.3.6, anyway) to add some text to every single verse in your file that has no text.  I just add a dash "-" character to all lines without text, as this screenshot shows in the highly fragmentary Old Syriac Curetonian module I just made available.

Additionally, when creating User Bibles, you have to make the versification match if you want the User Bible to line up with Accordance's native modules.  So if Accordance's module, for example, splits a particular sentence across two verses, but your text combines that whole sentence into one single verse, you will want to split it into two verses, to make it align with Accordance's text.  It can get time consuming, but it depends on how well you want your User Bible to align with Accordance's native texts.

I have some tricks to find verses that are missing text easily and efficiently, and also some tricks to quickly fill in dashes in the missing verses, if anyone is interested.  It was a big headache trying to figure out why User Bible versifications were way off from other modules in Accordance, but once I figured this out, it made it much easier.

All that being said, I don't think Mike's problem relates to User Bibles, unless I'm missing something.

I think the issue was something related to parallel versions i.e. my primary version was HMT-W4 and the LXX versions were all parallel texts. I kept adding new versions of the LXX as parallel versions and they all exhibited the same problem. The Hebrew text had a "--" where the LXX had Dan. 3:31.

Interestingly, after looking at this thread I attempted to open a 2nd tab with HMT-W4 and then began adding the LXX versions and I could not duplicate the problem (and yet the original tab still open had the same problem) closing and re-opening the program did not fix the problem in the one tab nor cause the problem in the other tab. I have now just closed the original tab and the problem is gone.
