Copy as Location URL

Accordance has moved away from the URL handler format

accord://read/CSB17S#1John_5:18

and to a web-based format:

https://accordance.bible/link/read/CSB17S#1John_5:18

Rick Mansfield said in eAcademy today that this was to allow the links to work across many platforms. But when I want to insert references into Scrivener writings or Tinderbox hyperlinked documents, or other applications on my computer (or iPad), I want one click to take me to the resource and reference within Accordance. I want to avoid the intermediate step of having my browser come to the front and then having to click again to go to Accordance.

The Accordance preference currently (12.3.6) is labeled "Include 'accord://' location URL" (which now does not do that!)  May we have perhaps a toggle or 2-radio button group in Accordance 13 which will allow us to set our preference for one of the two options above?

Being able to link transparently between applications is a huge benefit, but I must now edit each link manually.

Thank you!

Joel, are you giving us a very subtle hint about new v13 features? ;)

Many thanks for the implementation of the possiblity to change the preferred URL style.

But always if there are options like this I would love to have it to override by pressing SHIFT.

Greetings

I'm still having problems getting the accord:// URL attached to my citations. Instead, I'm getting the web-based URL (

I've tried toggling the "Include accord:// location URL" box off, copied citation, pasted—it has the http URL, as it should. Then I turned "accord://" box back on, copied citation, pasted, and still got the http URL.

What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

The "Include accord:// location URL" option under Preferences/Citation does not do what you are inferring. That option toggles whether or not Accordance includes the the URL Location link when you Copy as… Citation.

The misleading error is when Accordance changed to "https://accordance.bible/link/" link format, they forgot to change the description text in that preference. They need to update that text to say "Include Location URL".

You want the preference option under:

Preferences/Export/"External URL Style:"

Joe, you're my hero!!

Oh, this definitely needs to be added to the Preferences search functionality! When I search for "accord://" in Preferences, I am given only one panel as a solution, the one I was using fruitlessly.

It's so sad that the functionality has been there, but I—and probably others—just couldn't find it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Joe!

Two comments here. This toggle made my workflow sooooo much easier on Mac OS. I love it.

So the request… could we get the same toggle option on iOS? I built a shortcut that quickly converts this and it’s not so bad. But I probably hit the shortcut 20 times a day some days. A native toggle option on iOS would be just a dream. Thanks!

You can stop dreaming: the last update added it to the settings under Export:
