Timeline and 1 Corinthians

Kristin

Recommended Posts

I am experiencing a weird issue with the timeline, and I am not sure if it is a bug or user error. In any case, whenever I search for anything, 1 Corinthians is highlighted as the hit.

If I search for Revelation, Moses, or Luke, it really does not matter, EVERYTHING points to 1 Corinthians. I restarted Accordance but it is still happening. I will attach a screenshot where I search for Moses so you can see my results.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Sincerely,

Kristin

1 Corinthians is the top item in the list. I think you need to click on Moses after you find him, and then click OK.

Hi Helen,

I am sorry for being confusing. I mean that I did click on Moses and pressed "OK," and after pressing "Ok" the search box disappeared and it gave me the result of 1 Corinthians. I then went back and searched for him again to make the screenshot as a visual indicator of what I had searched for.

Well, the search is working for me. Is it now working for you?

Hi Helen,

No, it does not matter what I search for, it highlights 1 Corinthians after I press ok and the search window disappears.

What version of Accordance and what system are you using? Please update to 12.3.6 if not there already.

Hi Helen,

It says I am already using 12.3.6.

And your Mac system?

I cannot reproduce this bug whatever I do. It does not require a click on the searched name, it always goes to the selected name.

Hi Helen,

I am using Mac Mojave 10.14.6. On another note, (which may or may not be connected) my computer keeps wanting me to update to the new operating system Catalina. I have not done it yet though since I am worried about Accordance. Will Accordance still work ok on Catalina?

Yes, 12 works fine on Catalina, earlier versions were not 64 Bit.

You might try going to your Home folder/Library/Preferences/Accordance Preferences/Timeline and adding a -old to the file name to force Accordance to make a new one, in case it got corrupted.

Hi Helen,

I will try what you suggested, but I want to check and make sure I understand correctly. So when I see the Timeline in Preferences, I change it to Timeline-old with a dash. Is that correct? Or do I change it to Timeline.old with a period? I am sorry for this ignorant question, but I wanted to check before I start changing file names.

It' doesn't really matter as long as you leave the file type suffix at the end, it should be .acc1, and that's only in case you decide to go back to the present file.

Hi Helen,

Thank you for clarifying. I followed your instructions but it is still highlighting 1 Corinthians, no matter what I search for.

In case it helps with diagnostics, I made a short video recording from where I go to the search box, type in "Ruth," and press Ok, and it brings me to 1 Corinthians. However, as I tried to upload it the forum told me that I can't upload that type of file. If this would be useful at all, please let me know what file type I can use. I am not sure if you need it though as there really isn't more than what I just described.

Thank you for any help you are able to provide.

Kristin, thanks for the report. I think I've been able to reproduce it.  However, one question: I notice from your screenshot, the button "Search in English" is visible.  This normally only occurs if your system, or Accordance (or both) are in a non-English language.  Can you let me know which language it is in?

Hi Joel,

Thanks for your message. My operating system is in German. The Accordance interface is set to English, but parts of it (such as the Library) are in German (I assume since it is following the operating system, but I am not sure). In case it helps to know, this is how it has always been ever since I got Accordance and it has worked fine. The problem with the Timeline just recently started.

Thanks,

Kristin

Thanks for your report, Kristin.  I've found and fixed the bug for the next rev of v12, and the upcoming Accordance 13.  I *think* that if you uncheck 'Search in English' it should search better for you in the meantime.

Hi Joel,

Thank you for letting me know you found the bug and for your idea. I unchecked "search in English" and that fixed the problem. :)

Take care,

Kristin
