Issue with Creating User Tool

During the Accordance eAcademy, which was great, one of the presenters mentioned he had started creating User Tools for his seminary lecture notes, which inspired me to begin that project myself. In the course of copying and pasting text from Notability (desktop version 4.1.1) I ran into the error message shown in the image attached. If you note the length of the highlighted text, this error seemed to occur when I tried to set the hierarchy of a piece of text that was longer than that number of characters. Is this a bug or a limitation on text length that can be tagged for the TOC in a user tool?

Second. A full paragraph is too long. Use a heading for the paragraphs.

Ken, I was probably the person who mentioned that I had done that with some of my old seminary notes. What I did not mention is that since the files were already in MS Word, I exported the files from Word to HTML and then imported the exported file. Although it will still require some cleanup, it may be a bit easier/cleaner to import HTML on large amounts of content than copy and paste.

Thanks Rick and Fabian.

Fabian, good point. I was trying to avoid having to rework my notes too much and match the hierarchy in the original Notability notes.

Rick, thanks for the prompt for me to take on this project in your eAcademy presentation. This is a great way for me to put my MATS studies to use in my teaching prep, which was the point of getting the degree in the first place. I wish I'd thought of taking notes this way in the first place. Hopefully it won't take me the six years it took to finish the degree one course at a time to get my notes imported! Now if we could have note taking (with Apple Pencil support) as an option in the iOS version that would be awesome, but I suspect that might come one day.

I think I'll put this project on hold until the v13 release since Notability can't export to HTML. The only choices are PDF and RTF. Looking forward to the release date!

RTF is a good option to export. You can it convert as HTML and the headings should stay. If you use MS Word be sure you export it as HTML FILTERED otherwise you have HTML tags which brings Accordance in confusion. But as HTML Filtered it works fine.

...

And then there was the Apple Newton in 1993 that featured this ability. ;)

A truer statement I've not heard today.
