Accordance repeatedly loses Bibles from custom groups

This has been going on for over a year now--about once every month or two--and it is extremely annoying (along with Accordance losing font settings, which I just posted here).

 

For some reason, while doing nothing more than clicking down through search results in BHS-T, Accordance suddenly dropped one of my prominent user Bibles out of a custom group displayed in the Text Browser.  One second it was there, and the next second it was gone.  See attached.

 

Now, in similar time-wasting annoyance to the font setting problem, I have to go to the Library and manually add back this Bible to about half a dozen custom groups that I have (and sort it where I want it in that group).

 

Can we please make these time-wasting problems stop?  It's not the first time.  I'm sure you wouldn't want to have to redo things over and over again.

Here it just happened again, except that tonight it was a native Accordance module that fell out of 5 of my Custom Groups (just to refute the notion that this only happens with my User Bibles).

I know everybody's out, and may you all be tremendously blessed with your families.  Don't misinterpret this as impatience on my part, but merely diligence to make sure this issue gets addressed... because since writing the posts above, I've since lost even more Bibles from my custom groups.  Gone.

 

It's like having a hole in one's bag, or a terrible game of hide-and-seek that you can never win.  It's so treacherously annoying, and as I mentioned above, it's happening to both Accordance modules and User Bibles (and for the latter, ones that I've never changed since Day 1, so to speak).

 

So I will just really appreciate some attention on this, as I can't stomach the thought of having to continuously lose Bibles over and over and over again.  I don't have this problem with any other program--Bible software or otherwise--losing files, and so forth.

Toma, to help me troubleshoot this, could you do the following?

 

  1. Make sure your user groups contain everything you expect them to by checking in the "My Groups" folder in the library and adding anything that's missing.
  2. Find the file "C:\Users\~your username~\AppData\Local\Accordance\Accordance Preferences\User Groups.acc1" and make a backup of it.  Rename the backup as "Good User Groups".
  3. Next time an item disappears, go to the same file and create another copy called "Bad User Groups"
  4. Email both the good copy and the bad copy to me.

Okay, thank you Silas.  As I've mentioned before, this once every month or two (it would seem).  Thankfully, it isn't *that* often, but still way more often than it should be.  I estimate that in the last year and a half, it's happened about 10 times.  And given that I have several user groups, with lots of different modules in them, it is very annoying.

Thankfully, it isn't *that* often, but still way more often than it should be.

 

Well here it is, 2 weeks after I most recently reported the issue of Accordance losing modules out of my Custom Groups, and it just happened again today--this time, with a native Accordance module (GNT28-T), which has never been lost before.  I will email you Silas, as you asked up above.

Hi all, just wanted to pop a reminder in here that this issue still isn't fixed.  In fact, my Custom Groups / User Groups just lost versions on two different occasions within about 8 hours of using Acccordance.  That's twice in one day.

 

(Thankfully, the Accordance Team gave me a terrific workaround to save a backup of my User Group, and to replace the file whenever it goes bad.)  I already had to do that earlier today, and it worked.  But now I have to do it again, only a few hours later?

 

As I've said before--just to repeat--this doesn't only happen with User Bibles.  It happens equally with native Accordance modules.  Just to be clear.

Thanks Toma, I understand your frustration, but despite all your help with sending the user groups, I still haven't figured out how to reproduce this issue.  I'm still working on it, though.
