LXX-MT cross reference

Pastor Jonathan

Recommended Posts

I have been searching and looking for help with this question and have not been able to find it. I know how to go from the Hebrew text to the Greek. I make my main text as the NKJV, then have a parallel version that is the Septuigent and then cross that same word to the GNT.

However, I am wanting to go from the Greek to the Hebrew. That is the interlinear that I have not been able to find out how. Is there a source that gives me (as close as possible anyway) Word for Word equivalent from the Greek to the Hebrew and from the Hebrew to the Greek? Thanks.

I do not. I see that one for $30 but then I found, as I followed the product that was linked, one that was $80 and then another that was $100.

I am not sure then which to get or use? I am not needing anything super fancy. Thank.

With the smallest (Interlinear) you will be able to have the Hebrew Bible and the Greek LXX in an interlinear mode. As you can see in the image

And with Accordance 13 you get cross highlighted between them. Which means if you hold the cursor  over a word in the Hebrew or Greek Bible you'll see which word is the equivalent in the other. This feature is not showing because the image is older than Accordance 13.

The Parallel is for extensive cross searching between them.

Greetings

Fabian

With the smallest Interlinear, I am assuming then that I can go from the Greek to Hebrew and from the Hebrew to the Greek?

As interlinear: Yes. You can choose which one is on top an the other has to follow.

But don't forget this tool works only if you have the Hebrew Bible and the Greek LXX purchased. (Or in minimum one but there I'm not 100% sure.)

Great! Off to go shopping then :).

Just to make sure, if I look at the word Love, for example, in John 3:16, I will be able to see the word that corrosponds with that word exactly in the Hebrew?

Another question I should ask is whether there is a major benefit from purchasing the more expensive ones or is it about the same? The descriptions all read the same almost. Thanks.

With the Interlinear you get what I described above.

With the Parallel see this links Using the MT-LXX Parallel  Using the MT-LXX Parallel, Part 2 MT-LXX Parallel Manual

There is also some Workspace http://www.accordancefiles1.com/exchange/windows.htm

And I have done my own Workspace which I can send you.

There is probably more material if you search.

The information on the links are a little bit outdated since Accordance 13. Especially the beginning of the 1. part.

Thank you. I am going to try and see what I can find in regards to the interlinear. I believe it will do as I need and at that price, it is not a bad deal. The last link for the workspace said the link was no good. I am not sure if that is on my end or not.

The only hesitation I have is that all of the Screen shots I have seen, it is always the Hebrew going to Greek. Never of a Greek going to the Hebrew. So I am still a little unsure about it. Maybe I just need to get it and then return it if it doesn't work the way that I am hoping.

Ah yes the links are often a problem here. You can search for "Accordance Exchange" and there is the tab "Workspace" and there are some.

I think I see the issue that I am having. When I say Greek, I am looking at the Greek New Testament and not the Septuigent. I would like to see what Greek Word from the New Testament is able to reach back to the Old Testament.

Sorry for the confusion. There was a tool that I had called Strong's +. I could get it for E-Sword and in the New Testament it could give me the suggested Hebrew Word that the Greek would have been translated from.

That is the tool that I am looking for. When you showed me the screen shot I realized what I was saying and thinking were two different things. Sorry.

https://www.accordancebible.com/store/details/?pid=MHNTS if you have the untagged MHNT then there is an upgrade option.

looks (I hope you see it even if it is in Dark Mode) post-32723-0-46034200-1578425113_thumb.png

But this is not exactly the same. As the Tool you mentioned.

Ah! That looks more like what I am looking for. I have to see now if there are tagged Hebrew Strong's numbers to those that will allow the cross over. Thank you. This is getting me closer for sure.

Unfortunately the LXX-GNT module has only in the NT Strong's. Accordance refuses to add the Strong's numbers where a word is in the OT which has a Strong's number in the NT. This would make it for you easier, even if not for all OT words are Strong numbers available.

Ok. I appreciate the help. This gets me closer to what I am looking for though. Thanks again.
