Can Accordance work with The Master’s University to get The Legacy Standard Bible available?

 

I love Accordance and would love to work with this translation in Accordance.

I too would love Alter (OT) and Hart (NT) but I don't know if that ever would be possible. I believe (I don't know the actual situation) it's mostly about the publishers.

 

But also bear in mind they are super expensive in hard copy; to convert them to Accordance Modules adds a further cost to them. I'm not sure how many people would pay several hundred dollars for a translation when conventional translations are available for a tenth the price.

They say: At the end of 2021 the full Bible will be released. For me it makes sense to wait until the full Bible is available. 

 

I understand, but I hope that the work can start earlier so that we get it as close to when it is completed as possible!

For me definitely the current Elberfelder bible from 2020 (Textstand 31). The latest version in Accordance is still the one from 1991.

I don't remember if I have already written this in the current post (I've mentioned it elsewhere), but I would love to see the new revision of the Bible en français courant (the Nouvelle français courant). It is the most recent French version of the Bible and the revision was done by several dozen specialists. I've been using it for the last 1-2 months and have found it to be excellent. It's also a good complement to the French Bibles currently available in Accordance which are all based on the Louis Segond 1910 version—which means that there isn't a whole lot of diversity in the translations.

But i would love their 'study bible' equivalent with all the study notes, footnotes and cross references, i think it is now called study edition but i think my original dead tree version was called readers edition many moons ago rather than the popular version which just has foot notes to the translation.

This is the wish of another Accordance user, but it matches with my too.

 

The Einheitsübersetzung 2016 from the Bibelwerk https://www.bibelwerk.de/portal I guess Mark is in contact with them. This Bible is important as it is the official catholic Bibles for the German speaking world.

The LXX.D German Translation plus the Commentary etc. AFAIK from the GBS. The verse tagging should be like the Rahlfs. Take the second Edition. This is the latest. 

The http://www.bibleliturgie.com as this is the official Catholic Bible for the French language. Necessary for the French people as this is the official approved text. 

The Vulgate Deutsch https://www.degruyter.com/serial/bsv-b/html The German Translation from the Vulgate-T from Accordance. The verse tagging is like the Vulgate-T as they had used Accordance to do this.

MEV is Modern English Version. My print copy has “Passio”, but I believe the publisher name changed. 

 

It’s a modern translation of the same underlying texts as the KJV. It’s a help when needing to compare a modern translation based on the KJV underlying texts with other modern translations.

 

I don’t believe my Logos copy has Strong’s numbers. If the Accordance copy did, that would be even better!

Passio is an imprint of Charisma House, but the MEV should not be seen as a "charismatic-only" translation. Two of the translators, TJ Betts, and Eric C. Mitchell, were classmates of mine at the Southern Baptist seminary in Louisville. The full translator list is quite diverse.

 

The MEV is best positioned as an alternative to the New King James Version as it uses the same underlying Hebrew and Greek texts, but it is slightly more up to date in regard to modern language than the NKJV, which has not been updated in 40 years.

I would love to see the Portuguese Nova Almeida Atualizada (2017). But, I am sure the market for Portuguese versions is very small and so I don't fault Accordance for not making this a priority.

I’d also like to see the NRSVue in Accordance. I had signed up for it as a pre-pub on Logos, but I cancelled the pre-pub. I’d rather wait and get it in Accordance.

 

Two other general modules I’m interested in are: 

• Biblical Aramaic for Biblical Interpreters: A Parallel Hebrew-Aramaic Handbook
• John Phillips Commentary

If there’s even a remote possibility of getting them in Accordance, I’ll cancel my pre-pub with Logos for the first one and toss the second one from my Logos wishlist.

 

I’m in the process of canceling my Logos Perks membership, and I’ve already canceled my Faithlife Connect membership and moved to the Logos 9 Full Feature Set. Logos’ overall support has been heading into a slump lately (even simple things are way too complicated to resolve, and their last server outage was a pain whereas with Accordance, any support stuff I’ve needed done recently was a breeze) where I’m trying to pivot more toward Accordance. I’m just not in the mood to keep subscriptions with Logos, and I’m reducing my sales to absolute essentials I need for school and looking at instead pivoting as many of my sales to Accordance as possible. I’m not done with using Logos (I have over 13,000 books in the platform), and I’m still going to keep my memberships to MPSeminars and LearnLogos active so I can support those two ministries (I’m trying to get John at LearnLogos to branch out into LearnAccordance). I just like the overall direction Accordance is heading in with support vs Logos (Faithlife/Logos is feeling too bloated and less personal). I was already going to only buy the Full Feature Set of the next major version of Logos whenever it is released, but I may just wait and go with the free Basic engine. I definitely don’t need another major base package at the moment.

 

Plus, it’s “possible” I may join the Accordance family in the future (nothing definite to announce at the moment, and definitely nothing short-term, it’d be more likely after I finish my PhD program if it were to happen), so I’d rather spend money with the place I’d actually have the potential to do some work for in the future instead of giving it all to someone else. 🙂

Any of the Trinitarian Bible Society content would also be useful in Accordance. Accordance’s copy of the TR probably matches the version sold by TBS (but if someone wanted to check it, that would be fine). The TBS Hebrew OT would be useful to have in Bible software (I don’t know of any platform that offers it), as well as their Westminster Study Bible. Since my high school was big on the KJV, I keep some of TBS’s products in print around in case I need to use them in comparative settings. Having it all in Accordance would make life easier.
