"Eye-ease Green" background

When I was in college, back in the old days, I used gridded paper in a green color called eye-ease green for doing calculus, and it really did cause less eye-strain.  I have noticed that the Kindle app on iPad/iPhone now offers the a similar green for a background.  Might we have this as a fixed background for iAccord?  I've tried to approximate it on my devices, but can't really duplicate it for texts + tools+ user notes.

Thanks

It’s not exactly the same, but there’s a background color option called Mint. I use it for the same reasons you described.

It's nice but too bright.  Do you have the Kindle app on an iOS device?  The Kindle green is darker and grayed down just a bit.

Yes, I use the Kindle app and there’s a difference. I know it’s not the same. But at least it’s an option for now.

You’re right, and just getting away from bright white helps a lot.

+1

I would be interested in seeing an option like this.

I took a screen shot with my custom green on top, mint green on the bottom.  Then a shot of a Kindle page in it's green.  Here they are, side by side for comparison.

You can see that the Kindle green is a lot darker.  I usually have to turn up the brightness to get sufficient contrast.  Perhaps it is a bit too dark?  Opinions?  My custom green seems to be in the "Spanish Moss" family that we have in Accordance 13.

Hi Julia,

I had a look at the custom colour settings and I managed to get something a bit closer to what is on your kindle. It’s just very time consuming as you have to reload a text for the changes to take place. (as I am sure you are well aware. )

Anyway,  here is my attempt, and also a screen shot of the colour wheel showing the settings. The exact match will be there for sure, but just takes time given the process of making a change.

Anyway... I better go and wash the dishes now.... as I have spent 20+ minutes trying to match your kindle green, and answering my wife with “2 more minutes” is wearing thin.  :D

Hope this is of interest

John

John - why do you say you have to reload a text?  I'm able to see my changes live.  Were you changing the background color in the preferences, or in the aA buttons in the top right?

Ah..... so it’s also under the aA buttons you say?......yeah, i was changing it in the settings. Would have been a lot lot quicker! :D

I’m at the end of my day here, so that’s my excuse.

thanks for pointing it out Joel.

I am so glad this topic was posted. I did not realize that not only was there a color wheel as shown above, but choices for digital entry using RGB, CMYK, HSB, or Grayscale. Not only that, but the 'cog wheel' gives even more options that relate to color gamut for devices my system knows about. Oh Accordance, now you have set me on another few days rabbit trail as I get out my color index references and go at it.

After the excellent workspace seminar Richard Perry gave yesterday, I thought I had a few days of fun and exploration ahead. Now I am able to have full color control over the workspace as well. Wow, wow, wow!

Very excited,

Joseph
