redo highlighting

Recommended Posts

I have been running into an issue where I do a lot of highlighting and then I make a mistake with one word, so I select to remove highlighting, but instead of only that one word, it erases the highlighting of one or multiple paragraphs. It seems to happen if there is a footnote attached to the word I had selected for some reason.

With that as a preface, is there a way to re-do a deleted highlight, such as in this case where a huge block of text had its highlighting erased?

Thank you for any help you are able to provide.

Kristin, are you not able to do standard Undo/Redo from the Edit menu?

Hi Joel,

Thank you for your message. No. If I go to the edit menu both Undo and Redo are both grayed out and unable to be used. The Undo/Redo becomes active for all text (such as notes or even typing in the search box), but does not undo or redo highlighting.

Oh, your profile says you are still on Accordance 12 - if that's the case, Undo/Redo for Highlighting was only added in v13, sorry!  There is no support for a direct undo/redo it in v12.  Generally, when you select some text and do a Clear Highlighting, it will delete the entirety of any highlights overlapping that style.  So, perhaps there was some large highlight that overlapped your selection slightly?

Hi Joel,

Thank you for the clarification and for letting me know about Accordance 13. I will keep that in mind and will likely download it soon for that reason. Concerning the overlapping highlighting, yes, I am notorious for overlapping highlighting, so that certainly explains what happened. I will be sure to keep that in mind and be careful about my highlight boarders before adding a new highlight.

Thank you for the clarification and take care,

Kristin
