Is there an Enhanced Strongs Dictionary available?

This is a useful dictionary that would be nice to have in Instant Details.

Besides the basics as is now shown in Accordance, it would be nice if it would also show the various other words which the word is translated, along with the number of times for each word translated. I use the KJV, so it might not be as handy for most users. But it sure would be handy and quick.

Attached is a screen shot from Olive Tree Bible App.

Again, I'm just now starting to get used to using Accordance, so if this feature is already available, please show me the way !

Sorry, that was not the best example. Here is another.

Thanks,

Dave A

Hi Dave, I'm relatively new to Accordance, coming from OT also, and I miss the Enhanced Strong's Dictionary, too. I can't recommend a suitable replacement. Thayer's might be closest of all that I have. I recently got the Complete Biblical Library on sale and I like it's Greek Dictionary. Most of my others are either too short or too long.

Cheers!

In the desktop version the Analysis and other analytics will give you that information after you search for a Key number.

How so? That would be great, but I don't see it.

I guess there is a video from Dr. J. But I have to check later. May you find it in between.

Analysis and analytics in this instance will take you a bit longer.   They are based on search results.

1. For the definition you could triple click for definition.  The default lexicon will give you what you the definition.  (You can set your default lexicon under prefs / amplify \ gk dict.)

2. For the Analysis and analytics you need to do a search left click / search key number.  Now on the results tab you can use the analytics results.  see attached png

Thank you Helen and Paul. I took the OP in a different direction, focusing on content since he knew he could see dictionary content in Instant Details, and not how to access the content (e.g. Live- or Triple-click, or Analytics).

The NAS Greek Dictionary will show you the various other words which the word is translated and the number of times, though it's definition isn't as long as the Enhanced Strong's.

The CBL Greek-English Dictionary (Complete Bible Library) is good and provides a concordance.

In OT you can "search" and "lookup". In Accordance that corresponds to searching the Greek word and looking up the Greek word in your tool resources (Greek/Heb dictionaries, concordances, dictionaries, etc). Fortunately, Acc handles both beautifully.

* OT "Search" -- In Accordance you can:

1. Right-click on a word > Search For > Key Number

2. Type [KEY (keynum)] in the search entry box to list every occurrence of that Greek or Hebrew word in your current text (bible) [it's quite extensible, too; you can set the range of your search, like in OT, but also scope such as sentence, chapter, and more]

3. Use Analytics

* OT "Lookup" -- In Accordance you can:
1. Amplify - select the word and go to Amplify in the toolbar or menu
2. Right-click on the word > Look Up > and select a class (e.g. Dictionary)
3. Live Click - turn on and single click on a word and it will search that word in your dictionaries (this is customizable, via Preferences)
4. Research - you can search your entire library, or parts (e.g. commentaries)

Analytics is REALLY cool! And Glad Helen and Paul mentioned that. Paul's screenshot show's you how to access it in Acc v13. Prior to v12 it was located just above the title of the text, top-center of your reading pane, IIRC. You can do much to customize how it's displayed. You can sort and choose which elements to show. And you can set your Analytics to show multiple tabs by default; there's even a Concordance element to it. You can set your defaults at Preferences > Search Tabs > Default Analytics. (I LOVE that you can search in the Preferences!).

You might find the Mounce NT dictionary particularly useful. It provides searches for different translations to quickly/easily search different translations for the original language word; that functions like a [KEY (keynum)] search, but it's just a click away. However, what displays in Instant Details isn't clickable, so if you like the ability to click on a search you'll want to set this dictionary as your default (Preferences > Amplify > Triple-Click Defaults).

There are recorded webinars and YouTube videos and blog posts. Take advantage of all the free helpful resources. Many are available via the home page. I am just a couple months new to Accordance and I feel that the sky's the limit. I still love OT and use it (I'm very heavily invested), but the ease of searching, research capability, and original language capability are simply fantastic here. I primarily use the Windows version on a desktop, but also use the iOS version on my iPad (mainly for reading books).

Welcome to Accordance, Dave. May you have many happy years growing in God's word.

PS: Did I overwhelm you? If so, sorry. Take it slow, and know that there's always headroom. I've found so often that where there's a will there's (usually) a way. Cheers!

Yes Drewster, I find Kolenberger/Mounce indispensable for quick definitions.  That combined with Mounce Expository Dictionary is a great starter combo for Hebrew / Greek. They are my default amplify tools.

In my screenshot I switched to Greek Strongs Dict. for the sake of the original post.

Your last post is an excellent overview of searches, lookup and analytics.

Thank you.

Thanks all. I'll check out all your suggestions. Sorry for the late reply. I got sidetracked on other projects lately.
