Amplify to Website

Hello

The checkboxes of the pop up here are not mentioned in the Help Files. post-32723-0-31051400-1592215220_thumb.png

And the point below. An automatic search would be great.

Is this the right spot in the help docs? http://accordancefiles2.com/helpfiles/Win13/Default.htm#topics/10_ref/prefs/preferences_external_websites.htm

In Windows 10 Accordance 13.1.1 "Website" appears on the Amplify toolbar button, and when right-clicking, but not in the Amplify menu.

Automatic search?

Yes this is the right section.

If you go to a website (the one which are predefined), then the search for the highlighted word runs automatic.

Hmmm, that works for me. If I select a word, right-click, and for example select Wikipedia, it brings up an entry in Wikipedia for that word. The feature doesn't work right? Or the docs need to be updated? (I think the docs cover it, in the "Note" re 3 asterisks.)

Yeees, but I talked the automatic search in companion to go to a PDF on your HD. This doesn't work. See link I posted.

I saw the link but didn't understand. Thanks for the clarification. You'd like to use the External Website feature to add the capability to search PDFs on the local file system. I like that idea. I assume this is in lieu of adding those PDFs to Accordance as User Tools.

I don't expect the Amplify to Website feature to allow me to search local files. I think local search of files is a different capability than launching a URL. But along the lines of your thinking, I wonder if you could set up some kind of script that does that (e.g. launches pdfgrep or similar or other utility)? Perhaps using localhost: or 127.0.0.1 or file:/// to invoke that script?
