Old Testament Peshitta Paid Update in Easy Install

Great day everyone.  What exactly is this paid upgrade for the "Old Testament Peshitta"?  I've had all the Syriac materials available in Accordance for quite some time, but this upgrade just appeared over the last month or so.  I'm not even given the option to select it though.

Furthermore, the link provided on the screen doesn't take me to anywhere informative regarding this paid upgrade.  So, what exactly is this upgrade, and do I have to pay for it, since I already have the "Old Testament Peshitta"?

Thank you.

You can click on the link below.

I know there is a bug. I have reported it years ago. You have the cursor often hold more below than the link is. Then the arrow change to the "link-cursor".

It is also written, you have to delete the Peshitta and install it via easy install new. There are a few files which doesn't update via internal update, only by deleting and reinstall. Or the changes are in a way so it is not compatible with the old version. I guess this can be the case by you, if you are still on 5.5. The update to 5.6 came last year.

Greetings

Fabian

Thanks Fabian, as always.

Accordance Team: I still want more information, if possible, on this update for the "Old Testament Peshitta" (5.6).  Was it just correcting errors?  Why is it a paid upgrade?  What exactly is this?  Thank you for your responses.

I realize this update is different than most.

In this case, there were no corrections to the PESHOT-T module itself; the changes were to the Read-Me File. The Read-Me file is not an "installable" file so in order to process that change, an updated version of the PESHOT-T file is created and the update gets tagged as a Paid Upgrade. It is not, however, a paid upgrade; it is a free upgrade that needs to be processed differently. With the Paid Upgrade option, we added a note about the upgrade that shows in the Update window: "FREE Update: To get the latest Read Me file associated with PESHOT-T, remove the PESHOT-T module from your Library and re-install using Easy Install (v. 5.6+)." We don't currently have any other way to process updates to the "non-modular" files.

So in this case, remove PESHOT-T from the Library and when the new PESHOT-T file is redownloaded, the new updated Read-Me file is downloaded/installed with it.

Hello there,

Is it possible to change the Syriac text in Accordance from Estrangelo to Serto? In Logos they give both options, but Accordance seems to have only Estrangelo. I like reading Syriac in Serto script and wanted to ask if Accordance supports Serto.

thanks

There is no Serto font right now, that I'm aware.  I'm impressed that Logos has it, if you say.

Thanks TYA,

Logos does support both Estrangelo and Serto. The Leiden Peshitta text that I am using now can be displayed in both fonts. I hope Accordance will work on that soon.

An upgrade to 5.7 has similar instructions. I have tried several times to delete PESHOT-T, but nothing appears in easy install. I still have v 5.6. The Read Me module has notes on PESHOT-T from May 2020 (Read Me v 1.8).

I have 5.7. But I have deleted all Peshitta modules before I had gone to Easy Install. Or at least all PESHOT Modules.

I deleted just PESHOT-T (5.6) today, and reinstalled it with Easy Install. I now have 5.7 and a Read Me dated May 2020.

Only PESHOT-T needs to be removed from the Library. While the 5.7 does not contain a change in the Read Me file this time around, I have left this as an unorthodox update path to ensure that all users have the file; I have no way of knowing which users have updated their files. If I don't keep it as an unorthodox update, those with 5.5 or below won't get the latest (May 2020) Read Me file.

I repeated the process of removing only PESHOT-T (moving to trash). Running Easy Install shows nothing to install. Read Me is v 1.8. I cannot get PESHOT-T 5.7

Removing both PESHOT-T and Read Me and running Easy Enstall gives me the opportunity to reinstall Read Me v 1.8, but NOT PESHOT-T 5.7

I cannot obtain 5.7 via Easy Install.
