Draw a window in Timeline and zoom in

Watching the YT video for the new Timeline, I can't figure out how to draw a window in a portion of the timeline and zoom in to that window.

I was about ask the same question.  I've seen David Lang do it a few times, can anyone explain how its done?

Select a part of the timeline you want, and double-click inside it.

Not full. In my opinion, you need the right tools and to know how (and time).

When in the Timeline my instant details does not appear, any idea why or how I can get it active on my timeline , ty in advance

nnaps, it works for me on my Mac.

 

I presume you have tried Instant details icon 'on' and 'off' on the toolbar, or  keyboard shortcut ⌘⌥ 2.

A final check will be to make sure you have not exceeded the zones that you have set in preferences (if so, try closing some down).  

 

These are just some initial thoughts...
