tjebme
Wondering what my search construct would look like if I want to find all aorist active indicative verbs in the NA28 that are translated in the ESV using "have" or "has"? For instance, one of the hits would be Rom. 3:23 ("have sinned"). Thanks.
Helen Brown
I doubt that these words in the ESV are actually tagged with the Key numbers, since in English they are basically accessory to the main verb (unless it is the verb 'to have'). If you use the NIV-GKE or Mounce NT, both have phrase tagging, I think the search would be more fruitful.
tjebme
Thanks for taking the time Helen. I was under the impression (probably mistaken) that it was possible in Accordance to a search for an aorist indicative verb in the NA28 and combine that with a search in an English translation for any of the hits in the NA28 search where the English translation uses "have" or "has" within x number of words which would provide a decent proxy to start with. I'm probably not stating this clear enough.
JonathanHuber
The ESV wouldn't tag "have" or "has", but you could set up a construct search using the TEXT command and then require that "have" or "has" be located with 1-2 words.
