Exiting live-click action

I click on a Hebrew word and two panes appear, one for lexicons and one a word search.

 

How do I then remove these two panes, to resume reading the text? Do I have to close each separately, or is there a quicker way?

If you don't want either of the panes, you can customize Live Click by clicking the gear next to it, and disable (or enable) the lookups as desired.

 

Live Click will also respect a recycle, so perhaps move the zones around that are created, and they will simply update, rather than being created in perhaps a less-than-ideal location.

 

Otherwise, there is no single action to close two separate zones - you'll need to click the close button or Cmd-W both fo them.  But, I recommend you try setting up something good with the recycle.  For instance, you could put them in their own window, then just cycle the active window with Cmd-`.

Thanks, Joel. Sorry not to be clearer - yes, I do want the panes, but I want to clear them after looking up a word, to have an uncluttered workspace again.

 

If I just do cmd-w, it closes the Hebrew text zone. Is there a keyboard shortcut to select/make active the lexicon and word usage panes? (Re terminology, I guessed these were two panes, but one zone, but looks like they are two zones?)

 

So can I put them in a separate window? If so, how? I use an external monitor, so that could work for me. I have looked in Live-Click Preferences, in the 2011 Manual pdf, and in the Live-Click Tutorial. Is there somewhere else I should be going to learn how to do things?

Once the tabs are up, you can detach them by right-clicking on the tab name.  Then simple drag and drop will help you move tabs around a workspace, or to other workspaces.

Thanks, Joel, each pane becomes a new workspace. I drag the tab on the second one on to the first, and then I've got a single new workspace, with two tabs, one for lexicon (which is what I usually want) and one for word usage. That's great.

 

Now what do I do to preserve that layout? For sake of argument, I could give this new one a name like say 'Live Click panes'. I guess I could save that. They seem to be linked, but will they stay linked? If I relaunch Accordance and open 'Hebrew OT', will this 'Live Click panes' workspace open also? What if I opened 'Live Click panes' first? Would 'Hebrew OT' open also?

 

And do I need to re-save 'Hebrew OT' with this new layout?

 

I guess I am surprised because I started with two panes that were subordinate to (as well as integral to) the Hebrew OT workspace. And now they have morphed into what looks like a new independent workspace, no longer subordinate to the first.

To help you understand Accordance, I want to clarify a few things:

 

1) These are not "panes" but "zones".  A pane is actually subordinate to the search tab that contains it, and it only ever shows verses or content, not running searches.  For example, you may add an english bible as a parallel pane to your Hebrew text.

 

2) Aside from panes, there isn't a sense of subordination within Accordance.  It is the concept of Recycling - as noted in the Recycle symbol in the corner of most tabs.  If the recycle is enabled, then Accordance will attempt to reuse the tab when you request a new one, rather than always creating a new one.  For instance, when doing a Live Click, Accordance creates 1-3 tabs, depending on your lookup choices.  However, before creating them, if there are any valid candidates that are recyclable, Accordance will reuse those existing tabs first.

 

If you like this multi workspace setup, I recommend you use File -> Save Session to remember the session, perhaps even using it as your Default Session every time you open Accordance.

Sorry, it's not working any more. Now, I click on a word, and bring up the two zones, as before. Then I detach the Lexicon zone, which now says it's a workspace (and put it on my external monitor). All as before, so far as I am aware.

 

Content is recycled on this Lexicon tab on the new workspace.

 

Then I click a second word. Instead of the meaning coming up on the new workspace, a new zone is created in the 1st workspace, with the meaning of the second word. The new workspace still shows the meaning of the 1st word.

 

No idea what I am doing differently than before. Appreciate your help with this.

OK, if I just start with one workspace, with Hebrew text in one tab, and Greek text in another, and turn off 'confine amplify to same workspace', and have one other workspace for Lexicon and Word Usage, then it looks like it's working from a quick try.
