Preaching the Word commentary set

I'm interested in purchasing this set while it's on special, but before investing please could Accordance confirm what their intentions are in keeping this commentary set up to date?

The product details are for 36 volumes, which states that all the NT is covered, except 1 Corinthians, however this volume was released almost 5 years ago in Nov-15. Why has this volume not been added yet to complete the NT set?

Also, since this set was released in Feb-15, 5 volumes have been released:

The Psalms Vol 1 (Psa 1-41): Rejoice the LORD is King
James A Johnston
Jan-15

2 Samuel: Your Kingdom Come
John Woodhouse
Oct-15

Judges / Ruth: God in Chaos
Barry G. Webb
Nov-15

1 Corinthians: The Word of the Cross
Stephen Um
Nov-15

1 Kings: Power, Politics and the Hope of the World
John Woodhouse

Nov-18

Please can Accordance advise the status on adding these volumes?

Incidentally, Olive Tree have all 41 volumes in their set while Logos have 40 volumes (missing 1 Kings), even WORDSearch have 39 volumes. Why does Accordance only have 36?

Hoping for some encouraging news that this set will be updated soon...

We are aware of these volumes, but we have not started development on them. I don't know for sure when that will happen, though. However, I'm confident that we will get to it at some point. There are several other series that have some new volumes out, and we intend to keep them all up to date.

Hope that helps.

I own 1 Kings in Logos. It was on sale not long ago and it was the only volume I was missing

Thanks Jordan,

Appreciate the quick reply, it's good to know these are on the radar and the intention to update, although I do hope it doesn't take another 5 years until they are added...

I have had a growing concern recently with the number of commentary sets not being updated over a similar number of years, other forum threads have mentioned some of these, it's good to know these are on the radar too. Without sounding ungrateful for all the hard work Accordance is doing (and I do really appreciate it), I think this is definitely an area which Accordance would do well to improve on. I believe it is very important that these core resources are kept up to date as much as possible and in a reasonable time frame, 5-10 years is a long time!

Perhaps the product details page for each major commentary set could highlight upcoming volumes to be added as they become known and an approx release date, i.e. "coming autumn 2020..." or "expected spring 2021...", even "expected TBA..." shows they are on the radar and the set is still active. There could even be a page on the website dedicated to commentary sets showing upcoming volumes. Just an idea...

I opted to purchase this commentary set in the sale and am already benefiting from it.

However, I am using it in 1Th and it doesn't sync with the Biblical text. For example I begin at 1:1 but the commentary shown is for the final pages of the commentary, beginning: 'Now that we have finished our study of these two letters, we can see the overall picture of how the gospel took root in the life of this early church'!

I can see that it's pointing to the wrong tagging, please could this be checked and corrected?

Thanks Paul

If you’re enjoying this set you should try the Reformed Expository Commentary series (REC). It’s like preaching the Word but on steroids

Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to check out REC...

But I do hope the syncing problem can be sorted out on PTW, I've only been looking at 1Thessalonians but it affects the whole letter, none of it correctly syncs with the biblical text, so if I move the text the commentary goes to the wrong place...

Also, there are loads of tagging errors, I've only began to look at the opening sections and have already sent 6 emails to corrections in the last 24 hours...

Other than that the actual commentary is very good  :)

Wondering if this can be corrected??  I'm using in studies through 1 Thessalonians but the commentary does not sync to the biblical text...

Thanks Mark,

Appreciate the fix.

I haven't checked all the other volumes, whether this problem only affects 1 & 2 Thessalonians or others in the set...

Well done Accordance team in obtaining and releasing the missing 5 volumes from the Preaching the Word commentary set!

I was pleasantly surprised to open this weeks newsletter to see that this set has now been upgraded from 36 to 41 volumes.

This has restored my confidence that Accordance are also working on upgrading the other commentary sets with missing volumes.

Thank you and keep up the good work!
