Sync > Bookmarks > Dropbox

Greetings, so I recently make the switch from logos to accordance and with the exception of one thing, I am extremely happy. The issue is the keeping of bookmarks.

My need is extremely simple, I use bookmarks in a single bible (9 of them) that I try to move a chapter daily. (Like a reading plan). These are primarily maintained on my iPhone while I either read from a physical copy or from the phone.

I use Dropbox to sync across my windows 10 laptop, my iPad and my iPhone (both iOS13). The main purpose of this is to get user notes from the desktop to the devices. 99% of the time those notes are created and edited on the desktop. I have no problems with the synchronization of those notes and papers. On the desktop I am set up for manual sync, not automatic.

The issue is every few days or once a week, the bookmarks on my phone get reverted to a few days ago, or get doubled up with bookmarks from a few days ago and from yesterday. This is the really irritating part for me. I actually screen shot the bookmarks almost daily in case this happens. I do get the strange corrupted file in my Dropbox folder that looks like a foreign language too.

So:

-What am I doing wrong, I searched but didn't find much on this specific issue.

-Is there an order I should be syncing in?

-Would using wifi sync help the issue?

I would be 100% okay if the bookmarks were only on my iPhone and not synced any where else.

Any insight and help is greatly appreciated!!

The main thing that I'm wondering about is this:

I do get the strange corrupted file in my Dropbox folder that looks like a foreign language too.

I'd love to know what this is, and what's causing it.  Can you take a screenshot of what you're talking about and post it here?

I doubt you're doing anything wrong.  There's not a specific order you should be syncing in.  I do generally tell people to wait a minute or two after syncing is done on one device before starting a sync on another device to make sure Dropbox has gotten all its ducks in a row.  WiFi sync might be better for you, but I don't use Accordance on iOS, so I can't really give much advice there.

On the PC version of Accordance, you can uncheck the box to sync bookmarks under "Preferences  -> Syncing".  Unfortunately, I don't think the iOS version gives control over which things sync with dropbox.  That said, unchecking the box on the Windows version will potentially remove one of the factors that might be causing this problem, which will at least give more information about the source.

I will disable syncing bookmarks on the pc version and see if the problem reoccurs.

Apparently those strange files were not in the Preferences folder and they were more than a week old. I noticed they were removed during a dropbox sync yesterday and assumed they they were new.

Thanks!

So I mentioned those files with strange names, here are 3 still in my sessions folders. I had deleted the others.

From time to time I’ll get these in various folders. Is it okay to just delete them?

Yes, it's ok to delete them.  Would you post a dropbox link to one of them before you do?  I'd like to know what they are.  If they are being created by Accordance, there is a bug somewhere.

Thanks, I've downloaded them if you want to remove them from your dropbox.
