Copy and Paste font discrepancy

When I copy and paste from a text module to Mellel, a word processor, the color, font size, and paragraph formatting is preserved, but not the font type. I am copying Big Calson and it shows up as Helvetica. 

 

When I copy and paste from a text module to Pages, another word processor, the font type pastes correctly as Big Calson. 

 

Hypothesis: Mellel has a bug. 

 

But when I copy & paste from the internet to Mellel, Mellel preserves the font type, size, color and formatting.

 

Hypothesis: ? Maybe an Accordance bug?

I'd guess that Mellel doesn't know about that font, and has to substitute one it has access to.

But it does! All of my applications have access to all of my installed fonts. I have to manually switch to that font in Mellel, but I don't have to in Pages.

All I can say for sure is that what we put in the clipboard is the same regardless of what app you paste into. We don't even know what app you paste into.  If Accordance were putting the wrong font in the clipboard, it would paste as the wrong font in every app that supports rich text, not just Mellel.  I suppose it's possible that Mellel is taking the plain text from the clipboard instead of the rich text.  Do you notice any other style stuff being lost?  Like bold/italic, for instance?  If you make a user note with a bunch of different styles and fonts and font sizes, then copy it into Mellel, which parts are preserved?

I ran a few tests and compared with Pages. Pages still copied every element correctly. 

 

In Mellel from a verse referencel:

Reference: Font, Size, Colour are preserved. Face is semi-preserved (“semi-bold italic” from source turned to “bold” in Mellel, even though Mellel has “semi-bold italic” available)

Text: Only colour and size are preserved. Face and font are lost even though Mellel has access to the font and face in question. 

Superscripts: Colour and size and face (italic) are preserved!? Font is lost.

Search highlighting: Colour, size, and face (both bold and underlined) are preserved. Font is lost. 

 

In Mellel from a mix of style:

Here is what I noticed, when I select “Italic” from the face drop-down menu, it does not carry over into Mellel, but when I click on the italic button, it does carry over into Mellel. The same happens with “Bold”.

If you paste into Pages first, then copy it from Pages and paste it into Mellel, do you get better results in Mellel?

Yes! Everything pastes perfectly. I noticed that before but forgot about it.

I' have noticed something strange as well.

 

I am sending a screenshot of 3 word editors: Microsoft Word 2019, Mellel 5 and Nisus Pro 3.1 - all of them are the newest versions.

I have highlighted the places with some problems of importing the texts from Accordance. In Mellel there is a problem with all accents and spirits; Word has problem in the first word of verse, while Nisus Pro is importing everything smoothly. Do you think it may be some incompatibility of these applications with MacOs or it might be something other? Reviewing every time especially longer parts of texts imported is a little bit  troublesome.

Roman, if you copy from Nisus and paste into the other two, is the result more like what you expect?
