Reference Tool Request

Hi all:

Right now I am reading through Isaiah and following the notes from the ESV Study Bible. This is great, but there is one thing that is annoying and that is common to all the Reference Tools. I give as an example the beginning of Isaiah 59. There are 3 notes that include Isaiah 59:1. They are 59:1-13, 59:1-8, and 59:1. The problem is that if you either scroll to Isaiah 59:1 or arrive there by a verse search, 59:1-13 and 59:1-8 are skipped and Accordance goes directly to 59:1. So I am constantly backtracking to get all the entries for a verse that falls under both a group and individual entry. Would it be possible for you to make it the default for a verse to track with its first appearance rather than its individual entry? I think this would be much better.

Thanks,

Steve, the reason we go to the last reference to a verse is because we're trying to get you to the most specific information on that verse that we can. Let's say instead that you want to go to verse 12, and instead of getting the note for verse 12 you are taken to the note on verses 1-13. That note may not even mention verse 12 in particular, and you then have to scroll past a dozen additional verse notes to get to the ESV Study Bible's specific note on verse 12.

Simply syncing with the first reference would not eliminate scrolling; it would simply require you to scroll down rather than up. And for those just wanting quick information about a specific verse, the initial verse would be far less likely to get them what they need.

If you're concerned that you're missing important notes on the larger context of a verse, you could open the ESV Study Bible in a separate window and tie it to the window containing your passage. Then option-click the browser triangle to see where the verse note appears in the wider context.

Hope this helps.
