Installing upgrade

I downloaded the latest upgrade, but the installer isn't giving me the option to install it where I have Accordance installed. (which is ~/Applications/Accordance Folder).

It seems that the installer used to give me this option. I've turned off FileVault recently, I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

How can I tell the installer where I want it installed?

I think the only time the installer gives you a choice is when there are multiple installations of the application.

What happens if you move the folder back to /Applications for the update, then move it back after the update? I would not be surprised at all if FileVault (even turned off) was throwing things out of whack! Is your home directory symlinked to another partition or drive?

Sorry for the confusion, countach. The installer automatically finds and updates your Accordance installation. You are only given a choice if you have multiple copies of Accordance on your computer. Go ahead and try the installer - see if it works.

Probably moving it will work. I'll try that if no better suggestion comes up. My Home dir is not linked or anything wierd.

Well, I have one copy of Accordance, but it seems to be giving me a number of options of various partitions, none of which is where I actually have Accordance.

So the question is how Accordance looks for installations. ~/Applications is one of the standard places

(as reported by NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSAllApplicationsDirectory, NSAllDomainsMask, YES); ).

and OS-X can tell where all applications are. (with void _LSCopyAllApplicationURLs(NSArray **v);).

Can I make the installer find my installation somehow?

I'm not sure what you mean by try the installer. That is what I tried.

The confusion is between the two different places that the installer asks you to choose. In the main installer screen it defaults to Applications but in fact you don't need to do anything as long as Accordance is on the system or startup drive. That's where it will search and install Accordance. You only need to select another drive if your Accordance folder is on a different partition or external drive.

Later, if the installer finds more than one copy of Accordance it will ask you which one you want to update or install to. J.P. and Joel were describing this scenario. Then you can choose one by looking at its location. Be careful, though, as you should not have more than one copy and it may mean that in the past your installations got messed up and you are not using all the latest modules that you think you have. Our support staff can help you if this is the case.
