Charlie Ries
Someone donated a Mac Performa 575 to the church. Want to set it up with Accordance software. Not familiar with the Mac. Can I download files to my PC and then transfer to the Mac?
Helen Brown
Yes, but the PC will corrupt the files if you unstuff them. Just transfer the .sit or .hqx files and let the Mac unstuff them.
Charlie Ries
Yes, but the PC will corrupt the files if you unstuff them. Just transfer the .sit or .hqx files and let the Mac unstuff them. Downloaded 2 .sit files to a CD. Insert into the Mac, and it dooesn't recognize a CD. Insert Music CD and CD Audio, and the disc is recognized.. How can I get the Mac to recognize a data CD?
Helen Brown
The CD would have to be Mac compatible, I don't know if the Windows PC can do that. In general one can copy files from PC to any newish Mac using a PC formatted flash/jump USB drive, or Zip drive. This Performa is really a dinosaur, belongs in a museum. I am not sure there is a way to get Accordance on it. Accordance requires OS 7.1 or above. If the Performa has this OS, space on the hard drive, and at least 10 MB RAM, it will be easiest to order Accordance on CD-ROM and install it that way.
