You have also contacted our tech support directly, and they are getting back to you. Your old CDs should be upgraded to the newer ones in any case.

I've had similar problems. When I insert some of the accordance CDs (doesn't affect DVDs) it asks me if I want to write to the disc.

I've been unable to track down the root issue, but I can tell you the following have not worked and my workaround:

1. Repairing permissions

2. Using a pref-cleaned separate account

What works:

1. using an external DVD

2. Mounting the drive from another machine

3. Creating an ISO image on another box, then mounting it on the MBP affected

What I haven't tried yet:

resetting the EEPROM

send it in for repairs (what applecare wanted me to do)

I think there's also an issue with some of Apple's drives not reading some of the older discs, even ones that were burned on their own drives. I've run into this a number of times. My black MacBook from a couple of years back was notorious for this, and I specifically remember some of my Accordance discs not working in it as well as some discs from other sources, including ones I'd burned on older Macs. Fortunately, I haven't had this kind of trouble on my MBP yet.
