Highlighting a User Tool

Good afternoon,

 

I just finished putting a textbook I teach from in a Religion class into a User Tool .

 

I created a new highlight file just to use with this book. When I try to highlight the text in the User Tool, nothing happens .

 

I highlight the phrase with my mouse, then click on the style I wish to apply. Am I doing something wrong ... or am I trying to do the impossible?

Sorry, no highlights in user tools, as there's no way to keep track of which words are highlighted when the tool itself can be edited at any time.

Am I correct in assuming then that there is no way to convert a fully compiled user tool into a general tool which would then facilitate highlighting it's text? If not, it this something that might be a consideration in future releases?
