Instant Details - Version choices

I am sure there is an obvious answer to this but it escapes me at the present. How do I choose the Bible version for my instant details window? It seems to be defaulting to the KJV at present and I would like to change that. Thanks.

ps I have tried changing User Notes default text in Preferences but that doesn't seem to change anything.

For User Notes, the Instant Details window displays whichever version is set as the search text if the User Notes are displayed in a search window in parallel with a text. If a User Note is opened alone, the Instant Details window displays whichever text is selected for the notes order (note the drop down menu on the right just above the display area of the window).

Thank you Sean

I had discovered that but I can't understand the logic of it! In fact if I set something like the ESVS as my search text Accordance tells me (when I click on the highlighted reference) that the User Notes hyperlink cannot be found (or is incorrect) and then makes some suggestions about what to do if my chosen text is from a different corpus. I am not sure what that means. Looking at the Notes User preference pane in preferences I would have thought that the implication was that I can choose a default text to display in my Instant Details window... but changing the default seems to make no difference.

what do you mean by 'a search window in parallel with a text'? Thanks again for your help.

I'm referring to a User Note opened in parallel with a biblical text in a search window. Perhaps I should state this differently. When you open a text from the resource menu or the library window, it is opened in window which has a search entry box at the top and displays the text in a pane beneath the search entry box (this is what I'm calling a search window; perhaps it has another name). You may then add a User Notes pane to the window by clicking the User Notes icon and selecting the desired User Note file. When you are viewing a User Note in this manner, the Instant Details box will display whatever text is your search text when you hover over a linked verse reference in the User Note.

I'm at a loss as to why this is occurring. Perhaps someone else will chime in.

This will be best helped with a screenshare session, as I am not at all clear what you are mousing over and want to see in Instant Details, nor what your settings are for that module. Pleases send me privately your Skype or iChat or Jabber account name.

Thanks Helen

We are about 8 hours ahead of you I think so I will try to be available sometime between 10:00 and 11:00 your time.

We were able to reset Ron's Preferences for Tools and User Tools so that the main text is his favourite (he's in the UK, hence the spelling) with the alternate text set to a text with the Apocrypha. We applied these settings to all open windows (a new feature in Accordance) and then resaved his workspaces using Save As to be sure he has the new settings next time he opens them.

However, as Sean pointed out, User Notes take their underlying text from the Search text of the window in which or from which you open them. This governs which verses appear in the window, and which order they appear, so that they match the search text. It also governs which text is used to hypertext and for Instant Details. There are no separate display settings for user notes. Thus the only way to see the references in a different version is to click to open a Text window and add parallel panes to it.

I suspect that the upcoming User Reference tool will lose the elegance in which notes are displayed according to the search text, and will function more like a Reference tool, displaying all the notes and synchronizing with the top verse. It will, however, allow display settings and links to other modules.

Helen

Thank you so much for your Skype call today. This is real 'second mile' support and much appreciated. The support that Accordance supplies through the forums and this kind of personal attention is second to none!
