Will it be possible to run Accordance 8 & 9 at the same time? At least until I get used to 9 and can xfr my workflows over.

No, it won't be possible because 9 will move most Accordance files to Application support, so paths will be different, and also several settings files aren't backwards compatible.

Mike, I'm looking at the pre-release version, and while there are amazing new features here, I don't think you will feel lost at all. Even the most dramatic new visual capability, the new zone feature that allows you to see different "windows" neatly arranged, can be eased into.

The pre-release version has been sent out?

where exactly are my applications supposed to be in Application Support?

The Old Reliable verion 8 has its own folder on the Mac Hard Drive. Accordance 9 has just one icon in Applications, and I do not have any items related to Accordance in Application support.

Accordance 9 let me "open", and I downloaded about 24 items that were not items from Accordance 8. However, nothing from Accordance 9 will open. Should I reboot my Mac, like a PC?

Hi Jonna,

When I first opened Accordance 9 it asked where the Accordance files were in a dialog box and I just used the drop down to go the my HD/Accordance. The program then moved all the files for Accordance 9 and created two backup directories and put them on my desktop of the old files. If you click on Accordance 9 and get the dialog box, this may solve your problem.

Here are the instructions from the installation notes:

Installation and Reorganization Details

The first time you run Accordance 9 it checks whether you have an installation of Accordance version 7 or 8 in order to update that copy. It will ask you to find it if it is not in Applications/Accordance folder.

Accordance will migrate the following to /Library/Application Support/Accordance

Accordance Preferences

Atlas files/Time data

Gloss Folder

Read Mes and Manuals & Documents

Text, Tool, and Parallels modules that were actually installed in your older Accordance

If you run Accordance on a partition or external drive, the files will be in a folder labeled Accordance Support Files.

If only some of your files are on another drive or partition, Accordance will not migrate them at all.

The previous Accordance folder will be moved to your desktop so that you can retrieve any other files from it before deleting it.

Your Preferences: Text Sets, Tool Sets, Search All groups and Favorite modules will be converted to the new User Groups and the settings files for the old items will be removed.

The Module Installation Log in Accordance Preferences records the results of each move.

In Classic systems, OS 7.5 through 9, there is no migration of the files.

It will update your user preferences with the paths to the new locations of the modules.
