What does 9 install?

Recommended Posts

As has been the case with the last few Accordance installers, it no longer updates my Accordance install in my home Applications folder (it used to). Instead it installs a new app and support files in the local domain (i.e. /Applications, /Library, etc.) So now I need a list of what all was installed and where it was installed so I can delete it or move it to the appropriate location in my home folder.

Is there somewhere I can get a list of what the Accordance 9 Installer installs and/or updates?

Thanks

There is Accordance.app placed in /Applications.

The usual set of fonts are installed in /Library/Fonts. (Helena, Yehudit, Sylvanus, MSS, Salaam, Rosetta, and Peshitta I think)

It places the latest versions of the Greek roots, Greek words, Hebrew roots, Hebrew words, Biblio Formats, and Biblio Info in /Library/Application Support/Accordance, for Accordance to process and move when launched.

You can probably move around the app elsewhere, but I'd encourage you to simply symlink the /Library/Application Support/Accordance to the user equivalent. That way, Accordance and future installers can still find the files OK.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll get those files moved.

Just out of curiosity, do you know why the installer no longer looks for an Accordance install in the user's home directory? Also, is there a reason it forces the install into the local domain and does not give an option for the user domain?

Thanks again.

Where does Accordance process and move these files?

Thanks

The basic reason is that our goal was to greatly speed up and simplify future Accordance installs. Searching the entire hard drive for existing Accordance installations took time during every single install. Applications' standard install location is the /Applications/ folder, so by standardizing the Accordance install it greatly simplifies technical support, installer building, and user experience.

If you do the symlink and let installer put them there, everything will be fine even if you are centered in the User folder. A lot of work has gone into having Accordance take care of these things automatically, only updating if necessary, disposing of old files, etc. Still, if you desire to do it manually their final destination is [App support's Accordance]/Gloss Files/

Thanks for all the info!

I prefer to keep all of my software separate from the default system install. There are a few apps that force an install in the local domain, but most do not. And I chose this method based on Apple's recommendations, security, portability, and system re-install simplicity.

But I understand that you are making it easier for the average user. So I can live with the slight inconvenience if it's helping others out.

Thanks
