Accordance Updates

I've noticed that with version 9 I am asked to enter my registration number with every update.

After 6 updates it's getting a bit tiresome. I now have to keep my serial number in a text document in the Accordance folder for ready access.

This wasn't a requirement with earlier versions.

Thanks!

This should not be necessary: if you keep Accordance 9 in Applications subsequent installers will not ask for the code.

OK, then it is because I've moved it out of ~/Applications.

But it still didn't happen with previous versions when they were installed in the same location (versions 7 and 8 for sure).

Right, because the installer searched your entire drive. Now it just searches Applications, and is super fast on a reinstall or update (if it finds Accordance at the top level of applications).

Hmm… robbing Peter to pay Paul? I understand your reasoning, and speedy updates are a good thing, but I still prefer to keep my apps where I want to, not being obliged into keeping them where develelopers tell me. :(

I have good reasons for keeping all my research software and documents together, outside the base Applications folder. Well, they seem like good reasons to me :)

I would welcome a return to the intelligent functionality of the previous update method, 'nuff said.

Thanks!

The problem wasn't with the intelligent users but with those who had totally messed up installations with multiple copies of modules in nested folders. Also we wanted to conform to Apple guidelines regarding file locations.
