Mark Glodfelter
I can not seem to install 9.1. I've tried the update from the program as well as downloading directly from the website. On both instances the installer opens up and then suddenly quits with nothing installed. I don't even get the Accordance window to come up. Any ideas? Ron Webber
Sounds like a permissions issue. In your Utilities folder launch the Disk Utility application, select your hard drive in the list on the left and click the button to Repair Permissions. Best regards, Ron

If so, quit that first, then try again.
Mark Glodfelter
Thank you Ron. It was Spell Catcher. I have no idea how it even got on my computer. I don't even have the application. I greatly appreciate your insight on this.
Tom
It would be nice if Accordance would update and use the latest version of VISEX, it would take care of this on-going issue. Can Accordance do this? Tom
Joel Brown
Tom: We had been holding off upgrading to the latest version, as major upgrades often cause more problems than they solve, at least until the bugs are worked out. We recently tried it, though, as it claimed to have some good features and (as you claim) fix the SpellCatcher conflict. If I recall, 9.1's installers were even made with 4.0. As noted here, 4.0 doesn't even seem to solve the SpellCatcher issue. It has also, as unfortunately expected introduced innumerable bugs and made our installers much less reliable. For now, until they clean up the pervasive bugs in 4.0, we are going to have to keep using 3.x. A few of the features are nice, but it isn't worth problematic installers costing us time and money and poorer user interaction, and it doesn't even solve the problems. So, for now, SpellCatcher will continue to be an issue unless that developer fixes it from that side.
Tom
For now, until they clean up the pervasive bugs in 4.0, we are going to have to keep using 3.x. Certainly understandable. I will forward a link to this thread to Evan @ SCX. Tom
pcbogert
Certainly understandable. I will forward a link to this thread to Evan @ SCX. Tom I have downloaded the 9.1 updater through the Accordance update, through the website, and from MacUpdate. Nothing works. It decompresses to the desktop and then just adds an icon to the dock and just sits there. Whoops - finally. Must have been the tenth try. Not sure why, but I rebooted and then tried it. This time it installed.
